Like everyone else said, the first few time out you will spend alot of time on your ass (youll blend right in with the rest of the tards dont worry) after that it gets easier. Most first time packages come with equipment, lesson, and lift ticket to the lower lifts. You won't need more than that on your first day. If you want to ski well any one can do that.... just kidding. It is easier to start out on ski's but the learning curve to become good at it can take years. Snowboarding you progress faster. My parents couldn't keep up with me. At about 12 I took up snowboarding. Don't get out all too often so I'm not too good at it but I really enjoy it. If you can skate well, and since you're emotionally scarred, that leads me to believe you can, you'll probably pick it up pretty quick. Poles are great! Being able to skate your way to places is GREAT!!! having your forward foot at 90 degrees trying to push your way to the next destination like you would on a skateboard ... is not great. My opinion. It's still fun to snowboard and it seems people pick it up pretty well so take your pick and go for it.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
