Pro-Track speed not accurate if inside helmet?

The makers of Pro-Track say that for accurate speed readings, it should be worn on your leg.

Do you find that is true? If so, is it off by a significant amount?

It is MOST accurate when it's not being burbled inside a helmet. It's still pretty accurate when in a helmet.

theyre still pretty accurate. but yes mine will still read crazy every 50-100 jumps or so. if you mount your on the outside of your helmet opposed to the inner pocket this will rectify the problem. dont know too many people mounting theres on their leg. seems pretty stupid.

It's not stupid, unless you want to use it as a beeper If you want to use it as a speed indicator, say for birdman or speed jumps, and want the most accurate results, you need to wear it on your leg or hip.

I find it to be true. When looking at (entire) speed profiles, I see oscillations of 6 seconds in the speed graphs. Not at home, so I can't check speed variations, but this has led me to believe ProTrack uses a running average over 6 seconds for speed.

I use it as an advanced logbook only, so I keep it in my pants pocket. That gives seemingly very accurate readings.

We Do

or we mount it them on the outside lower edge of our rigs like the pictures I showed you.
Mounting them on your leg is problematic in that if you kick your leg you can spoof the readings to read VERY high but the graphs will show the spikes when you DL them into your computer.

Is there a better way to mount a protrack to the outside of a helmit other than the cheesy 2 zipties they send you.
