airdvr 210 #1 January 3, 2009 I've been in a bad way now for 2 weeks. Headaches, difficulty breathing, and spasmadic coughing fits. Earlier in the week I went to an urgent care facility and they gave me an antibiotic and Mucinex DM. I noticed at that time that I wasn't in nearly as bad shape when I was at the office. The rest of the week I was at home and coughing like crazy. Yesterday it got to be too much and I went back to the urgent care. Chest X-Ray, inhaler, steroids this time. Again I noticed it wasn't as bad. Came home and it immediately got worse. I started wondering if I'm allergic to something in the house (other than my teenage kids when they're here). Rox took down the tree last night and I started feeling better. Then I started thinking about Xmas past. I always seem to have this type of respiratory problem around this time of year. This year its worse because the business shut down for 2 weeks, so I was home more. WOnder how many others are allergic to Christmas trees? Please don't dent the planet. wolfriverjoe 1,523 #5 January 3, 2009 My mom is very allergic to evergreen. We couldn't even have a real wreath on the outside of the front door. FlyingJ 0 #6 January 3, 2009 Yup, though I'm allergic to pretty much everything it is possible to be allergic too. Oh, except poison ivy. Go figure. I don't tempt that one though, don't need to develop an allergy!Killing threads since 2004.
JohnMitchell 16 #7 January 3, 2009 Bummer of an allergy. We love having a real tree. We live right in the middle of several Christmas tree farms, and always get a beautiful tree, this year less than $10. Even after 5 weeks in the house, the one I just drug outside is fresh enough to go another month. And it smelled so good.I have a few food allergies, so I can relate. There's worse things in life than avoiding a few foods or having a fake tree.
tigra 0 #8 January 5, 2009 I don't get the symptoms you do, but I must be at least a little bit allergic. My arms and hands will always itch after we bring the tree in and set it up, same for decorating it and taking it down- I usually will take a shower afterwards. So, yes, I believe you could be allergic to the tree. Try a fake one next year and maybe you'll have a better holiday season.
