murrays 0 #1 January 1, 2009 Tonight's game between Canada and the US was absolutely awesome! Canada won 7-4 with 2 empty net goals in the last minute but that final score doesn't do credit to tonight's action. The US got off to a 3-0 lead helped by Canada getting into penalty trouble. Then Jonathan Tavares scored 2 quick goals for Canada and the tide turned. 3-3 after one period. Canada went up 4-3, US tied it up, Canada went ahead 5-4. Late in the third period Canada's goaltender Dustin Tokarski absolutely robbed the US on a close in chance. Incredible save. Lots of pressure from the US with their goalie pulled but Tavares finally got free and completed his hat trick to make it 6-4 and then they added another to make it 7-4. I don't know if the World Junior Tournament is available to any of you US hockey fans but if it is...the medal round is about to begin and these kids are great to watch. Reminded me of the 1975 New Year's Eve game between the Montreal Canadiens and the USSR Central Red Army that ended in a 3-3 tie....considered to be one of the greatest hockey games ever played!-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Jumpervint 0 #3 January 1, 2009 We went to a WHL game last weekend (Spokane Chiefs). Great stuff. Our normal goalie was gone to world junior competition, as well as our back-up goalie. Our regular? Tokarski. Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again." murrays 0 #7 January 3, 2009 Slovakia? Shows why you gotta play the game....you never know what can happen. Canada-Russia Sweden- Slovakia I HATE watching Canada play Russia. I HATE losing to Russia more than any other country. This is going to be a tough semifinal for Canada to win. Can they? Sure. Will they? We'll see...I sure hope so. I think the Swedes will beat Slovakia but lose in the gold medal game to Canada. murrays 0 #11 January 4, 2009 QuoteHey Murray, How's your heartbeat? Coming down yet? Damn that was an exiting game. HAHA!!! Andrew,I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest at various times. It was pounding so hard I think I could hear it. Classic Canada-Russia struggle. I think 5 of the Russian players were on the Under-18 team that Canada beat 8-0 last year and they wanted revenge....they were very close to getting it. If the Russian player that iced the puck trying to score in the empty net had skated over centre or even just dumped it in but not iced it we may never have gotten back in the Russian zone. He really had no one near him. He'll be thinking about that decision for a long time. But, tying it up with 5 seconds left was awesome! The Gold Medal game should be a good one too....Sweden beat the Russians 5-0....so we're going up against a very good team. Cheers, Murray

murrays 0 #13 January 6, 2009 2-0 Canada over Sweden after 2...awesome penalty kills! Tokarski is GOOD tonight and I think our guys are playing their best game of the tournament thus far.
