highfly 0 #1 October 17, 2005 I am looking at buying a 2nd Hand Sidewinder Camera Helmet. Does anyone out there jump one of these? Can you tell me if it will fit a PC 8 Sony Digital camcorder in it? Thanks www.myspace.com/durtymac
LouDiamond 1 #2 October 17, 2005 QuoteCan you tell me if it will fit a PC 8 Sony Digital camcorder in it? There are sidewinders still out there but the boxes are camera specific. You would need to find one that was designed for that camera or close to it for it to fit properly."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
ryoder 1,590 #3 October 17, 2005 I have the Sidewinder O2. It is the 2nd generation Sidewinder that is based off of the Oxygen, rather than the Factory Diver. It was designed for the PC10, but I have a PC5 in it. Since the PC5 is considerably shorter than the PC10, I had to build a special adapter plate to lift the PC10 about 5/8" so it would align with the lens opening of the box. I don't know the dimensions of the PC8, but as long as none of them are dramatically larger than the camera for which the helmet was designed, I expect it would be possible to accommodate it, but it may require some shop work."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. YISkyDive 0 #4 October 17, 2005 I jump a Sidewinder with a PC101. The only two problems I have with the helmet is the face sheild and not having a thumb screw. The second I can fix on my own.. but the first problem is some what of a mind mess for me. The hindges are set up right, it fits right too. but sometimes I get this weird turblence under the chin where the helmet starts violently shaking, and pops the sheild. I have had it happen on belly to earth jumps, and on both new and old sheilds. Some times it happens in the track, but twice it happened on T.Video jumps. I can't figure it out. My father has 400 jumps on the helmet and has never had it happen to him once. It just must sit on my head funny, but it seems to fit comfortably and no one knows what to say about it.
