gonzalesna 1 #1 January 14, 2009 We went out to the range today to zero out our DMR. (Designated marksmanship rifle) It's essentially an M14 modified into a sniper rifle with a 12x scope used for disrupting IED's. I shot through a fiberglass flagpole about 1/2 inch thick (the ones commonly used for bikes and go-karts) from about 1650 ft. (that's over a quarter mile.) The wind was a good 20 mph at least too. gusts to at least 30. Tomorrow we get to go blow up a rocket that didn't detonate. As I lay here, about to go to sleep, I can still smell the gunpowder in my nose... Gotta love it!Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

What ever would make you say that???Actually, in the EOD community, we do the case of beer thing a lot too. We just don't do it for firsts, as much as if you jack something up. For example, If you cut your time fuze, and you do your calculations, if you do them wrong and your shot goes of +/- more than 5 seconds, you owe. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse.
