Coreece 190 #3 January 16, 2009 I'd say Peru just because it seems like a more unique experience. Also: If you say you went to Roatan, some people may ask "what's that?"If you say you went to The Everglades, some will ask "did you see any gators?" or "O, really?"But if you say you went to Peru, they will say "Wow, that's pretty cool?"But who cares what people think anyway. Here is something else: Relax - Scuba/Beach Experience - Hiking/History Fun - Kayaking/Camping You can always find time to relax and you can always find time to have fun, but a good experience comes around only once in awhile. If any of this makes sense...cool. If not...pay no attention to me. I have never been to any of these places and know sht about them. I'm just going with my spidy sense on this one. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
wmw999 2,628 #4 January 16, 2009 The Inca Trail is closed in February, so if that's your Peru goal, it might change your decision. tigra 0 #5 January 16, 2009 This winter has been so brutal already- I would LOVE a tropical beach vacation and I hear Ruatan is just beautiful-and still not over-run with tourists like some other beach destinations. Just touristy enough to have the amenities you want on vacation but still "rustic" enough to feel like you are having a bit of an adventure. Peru sounds intriquing too but with a -40 windchill this morning, I am biased towards the beach.
froglady 0 #6 January 16, 2009 Looks awesome and the 2nd person being 1/2 off makes it close to within budget. Thanks for the link.
froglady 0 #7 January 16, 2009 Problem is I like all of those things and lately relaxing has been hard to come by.
froglady 0 #8 January 16, 2009 Not a huge fan of crowds so was thinking we'd like the choquequirao hike better. And then just take the one day train up to Machu Picchu. Tough to decided.
froglady 0 #9 January 16, 2009 Not that cold here in VA, pipes are frozen at my house though. Warm is sounding very nice right now.
flygirl1 0 #10 January 16, 2009 I've never been but, I had friends who went to Roatan on a diving vacation and absolutely loved it. I would go here if you want great scuba diving and time to relax. I have been to the Everglades and although they were cool I can think of a lot of other more exotic places I'd want to go kayaking if you want to travel. Peru would be awesome. You should definitely go here if you want more of a sight seeing adventure vacation.Fly like a girl

A beach would be MY choice, especially if I only had a week. Someplace like Peru- I think I would want to take a couple of weeks and really do it well. A week on the beach with some snorkelling and maybe scuba would refresh me enough to face the rest of the winter.
