I didn't have the size for the hitting game though. It made me improve my skating and puck controlling ablilties. All I have now are house leagues on occasion. None out here in Japan though. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie. skydiver30960 0 #4 January 18, 2009 Yeah, I know how to use the stick. Well, sorta. When time permits I play in a non-checking beer league nearby. It's a good time. I wish they'd develop a checking or semi-checking league because it'd be SO much more fun. But given my ever-advancing age, I guess maybe the non-checking league is keeping me alive longer. Elvisio "even in hockey, my stick hangs to the left" Rodriguez I think the reason a lot of house leagues don't do checking leagues is there's a lot more risk involved with checking leagues. When you play in school or as a kid, if you get hurt, you can still go to school. As an adult, you have individuals that labor for their profession and an injury would prevent them from being able to work. I know that most ice rinks have you fill out a release of liability statement, but with checking, anger can be a product, leading to fights. I figure they're just trying to avoid extra paperwork. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse.
