Cheap airfare websites

I generally use expedia etc....

but my friend told me about another site with really cheap airfare....can't remember the name!!!

I'm trying to go to madrid!!! Any help on ways I can catch a cheap flight?

That was okay but I went to Southwest Airlines website and did better. Most those travel sites leave off SW.

I use www.kayak.com

Very easy to use, no pop ups, and if you want you can compare it to expedia, priceline, and a couple others.

The ease of use and correctness of the information is great though. It compares the TOTAL cost after taxes fees and everything. This is a big plus as airlines ovbiously have different fees so it might be hard to compare flights if you arent familiar with them.

I used multiple websites, and finally the airline's own website, for tickets to Thailand, only to save another 20% by going through a friend's travel agent. For international travel (at least Asia) I guess it pays to try a travel agent.

Hi Andriana,

Whenever you go to a 'cheap air fare' website you should understand that if things go to %$#@ on you and you try to get some assistance from the carrier that you are travelling with, you go to the very bottom of the queue.

Your carrier just does not care about you because they have made almost nothing from your purchase of that ticket.

I have hand a number of friends find this out the hard way.

Try the actual airlines you would like to fly with & compare. Some times for only ~$35 or so you get to purchase the ticket from the carrier; and then you get the service when you need it.

I second the Kayak recomendation... it actually searches all the other websites, including JetBlue and Southwest (I think), which most of the other sites don't search. You are never buying from them, they just link you to the cheapest fare out there.
