iluvtofly 0 #1 January 31, 2009 So in my search for a job in Florida I've been checking out craigslist alot and sending out a bunch of resumes. I got an e-mail back about one of my resumes. There is one part of the e-mail that sounds fishy to me. QuoteDue to the recession, Rustox has been cutting costs where we can in order to remain competitive in our marketplace and continue to successfully serve our clients. All job applicants moving to the 1st stage of the interview process are required to complete one of our client's basic marketing forms. When you click on the link below one of our preselected client websites will open in your web browser with a form for you to complete. You may be required to enter your email for a Retail marketing offer, enter your basic information, or click a free credit report button which asks for further details. This almost sounds like someone fishing for some information for spam. Should I do it or am I write in thinking there are some alternative motives here? dgskydive 0 #4 January 31, 2009 There are lot of scams out there right now. People are praying on those that are out of work. In my search of a job over the last few months, I sat in at two "job placement" agencies here in NYC, that where getting people to pay them for any kind of certificate they could think of. Telling them that this would get them a job. "If you pay us 1350.00, we will train you in XYZ field and get you a job in 2 weeks" People were forking over money and I know they were not going to get work, because I had already talked to some of the companies that they supposedly would get me hired at and those companies already said they are not hiring. Job seekers beware. In my experience, Craigs list is full of shady shit.Dom

dgskydive 0 #6 January 31, 2009 If people want to find a job, use monster, careerbuilder, linkedin, jobing.com and other sites like that.Dom
chiquita24 0 #7 January 31, 2009 I've found that careerbuilder too has what seems like scams to me. Like all those data entry jobs, but first you have to PAY them something. Do you think that's legit? There also lots on there for working for the postal service but you have to pay $100 + dollars for them to send you a book on then you have to take some exam. Sounds fishy to me!
d_squared431 0 #8 February 1, 2009 When I first moved to Florida I posted my resume every where including craigs list. I receive a lot of bogus emails but did get a few good ones. I say you best bet is to go online and apply to the hospitals in the area you will be moving. Apply for any position you are qualified for. That is what I did and on my drive from the west coast to Florida I had two interviews lined up the first week I was here.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

Do you think that's legit? I agree with you, but at least those are at a minimum. Craigs list lets anyone post anything and that can lead to a lot of trouble. The only job site that I have seen that allows only "real" jobs is jobing.com. But they dont have jobs for every place in the U.S. I used to work for them. Even though I quit, I still think they are the best job board out there. As a company, they truly care about the content of there site. They could make a lot more money if they opened the site to work at home type businesses, but they refuse to stoop to that level. It is the only job site that does not attempt to sell anything to job seekers. To be honest, all job boards are almost useless right now though. Something like linkedin will help right now, but most of the jobs on traditional boards right now are only there so the companies can gather resumes for when they start hiring again. At least that has been my experience over the last few months.Dom
