If you look close, it's "technically" not the same design.

They do look very similar, if you took away the little stem at the top middle in the movie poster version, you could then flip it over and it'd look the same, almost. One side's higher than the other in one version, and it's reversed in the other.

When it come to which came first the answer is whoever has deeper pockets. There was a small candy company that had the same style B in their name as a large casino. Had the logo for years before the casino. They were forced out of business fighting for their logo.
