JoeT 0 #1 October 6, 2005 Anyone with a lot of experience jumping a Sabre 1 then swithced to a Sabre 2? I have about 400-500 jumps on my Sabre 1, but I find the openings harder than I like (I also have some back issues). Is the Sabre 2 really a lot better in that regard? Other canopy suggestions? outlawphx 1 #4 October 6, 2005 I've got about 10 Sabre 1 jumps and 50 Sabre2 jumps, and I'd say the only thing similar about them are the names Well, and the fact that they're both zero-p, etc, etc. I love the way the Sabre2 flies, and my only complaint is it's tendency to open off heading. idoru99 0 #5 October 6, 2005 I've got about 100 jumps on a Sabre 190 and now about 70 on a sabre2 170. I understand not exactly similar due to different sizes, however... I found my Sabre openings to go similar to this...snivel, snivel, snivel, thwack, turn. I just accepted it. I did have 3 openings that felt like insta-canopies that had me seeing stars and cussing while trying to see straight. With the Sabre2, I've had very good openings, ALWAYS have end cell closures, but it usually flies straight. I do nothing to the nose while packing and roll the tail about 4 times before laying it down. Would never have been caught dead doing that with the Sabre1. The difference in openings is night and day, in my limited experience. As someone already mentioned, the only similarities is the "Sabre" in the name. Hope this helps. <><><><><><><><><><><> The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.
vt1977 0 #6 October 6, 2005 The Pilot is great, the Spectre is great too. If hard openings bother you, have you considered dacron lines on whatever canopy you choose? Vicki
spoons 0 #7 October 6, 2005 I had a sabre 170 for about 50 jumps and found it opened firmly. Now i have a sabre2 135 - I find the sabre2 much slower on opening and a lot nicer on my back, but it does search a lot...as long as you're straight in the harness it's fine I've also jumped a safire2 and i would have to say it probably opens even slower than a sabre2...
