Brand new Main canopy packed to long?

Recommended Posts

I have a brand new never been jumped saber 2 canopy that has been sitting packed for Months. I pulled it out the other day and it fell to the ground like a log, very stiff and very much pack memory. With a little work I was able to shake it out, flake it out and it seams fine. Would there be any damage done to it had it been kept in this state of packed-ness? Obviously I might want to think about storing it unpacked (as read in many threads) or get out and jump it. I guess I’m just curious about what type of damage could happen to it all packed up and how would I inspect to make sure none of that damage has happened to this particular canopy.

I guess my logic would be that if it shakes out fine it is good to go?

thanks

you just wasted a smooth opening :P

this has already been discussed, as mentionned above it's the ZP material sticking together, but the best advice can be given by the manufacturer

Just imagine how big your eyes would be if it was your reserve!B|:P

Some of them come out like a brick also, even not being ZP. It's not unusual to have to pull them apart rather than have them fall open. This can be the same canopy from the same manufacturer. There is no spec on the fabric about taking a set or crease or energy to unfold. In the early 90's I sent two reserve back after a year because I was uncomfortable with how much like a brick they were. Depends on the lot of material.

But, the ZP is worse. As stated above yours sounds normal to me.:)
If you can't jump it you obviously need to hire someone to jump your lonely canopy!;)B|
