Fozz 0 #1 February 7, 2009 Best route towing a long trailer (27') from Sacramento? I'm thinking 80E to 95N Any skydiving in the local area?John Fosgate "In the end, its always best to choose the hard right over the easy wrong." Jumpervint 0 #2 February 7, 2009 Closest skydiving to Lewiston, ID is West Plains at Ritzville outside of Spokane. Pretty slow (like none) now in the winter - might pick up later this month if it warms a bit. Next closest is Boise area. Either way you're looking at 3 hours of driving. Vint. . . . . Amazon 7 #3 February 7, 2009 Nope... I would do I-5 up to Portland I 205 to I-84 to The Umatilla/Hermiston Or Cutoff along the river to US 395 up to US 12 East into Clarkston/Lewiston.. especially if towing a 27' trailer.. There are a LOT of hills on I-84 east of Pendelton and its out of the way to take I-80 and US 95. You climb a lot of passes that way. By following I-5 to the Columbia River and the Snake River you stay fairly low... and this time of year.. Low means warmer.. less Ice.
grannyinthesky 0 #4 February 7, 2009 Uh, if you come this way (or go home this way) on a weekend, there should be jumping at Star. I'd round up the locals for ya. The Columbia Gorge along can be nasty this time of year and from Fozz's area 80 to 95 really isn't out of the way. Besides, if he comes this way, I might get to jump with him."safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

US95 in Idaho is curvy and narrow in quite a few places, especially north of Weiser. Plus, if you breakdown between Winemucca and Jordan Valley, you'll probably have to eat a family member to survive. Can be.. but usually isn't... if the Gorge is Icy.. the passes have a habit of being UBER UGLY... and I remember US 95 aqs having quite a few "interesting" hills. Plus Hills equal.. LOTS more gas.. grannyinthesky 0 #8 February 7, 2009 Shush you two. How am I going to get him to come here and jump if you keep that up? But I suppose with a 27 foot trailer, going I-5 might be better. 95 really isn't all that bad though by this time of year. I'd really probably take I-5 to about Klamath Falls and then 395 all the way to 12. I guess he could come back through here."safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!!
