What to do in Central California

Recommended Posts

Myself and a guy I work with are going to be in Central California for a class next week. We were planning on going to Big Sur on Saturday for some photography but the weather is looking pretty bad.

What's something good to do on a rainy Saturday in the Modesto-San Francisco-Sacramento area?

Hearst Castle, Cambria, wine tasting, Moro Bay... what not to do in Central Cal.

If you're going to hit Big Sur - hit the aquarium in Monterey too.

head to Lodi and go for a trike ride, or take an intro-lesson. tell doug Jonathan from So-Cal sent you....he gave me some instruction, has some nice equipment. And, his hanger is 100 yards or less from Skydive Lodi!

here is his website...

I agree that the aquarium is awesome. A must see!
But dayem, those seals are LOUD. :D

Morro Bay, gotta go see the rock. B|

Big Sur, there is a very nice restaurant on the cliff overlooking the ocean, the view is spectacular while being nestled among beautiful trees.

Dang, now I want to drive up the coast.

Have fun!! :)

I can't believe you would suggest that to someone who doesn't know what it is! Hahaha! Whatever you do man, don't go to power exchange. Although I think it would certainly qualify for your requirement of being "unique"

:P

BTW there is a wind tunnel in the east bay.

OH Come on.... its one of my favorite places to go... on a Sat night in the Bay Area..... The variety there is astounding...:ph34r::ph34r:

Its been a few years since I was there..... but back in the early 90's and late 90's when I was working down inthat part of the world.. I have a lot of fond memories...>:(

I looked at their website... and itlooks like they are moving... Can't wait to see the new digs when they open.:)

That would be Nepenthe(http://www.nepenthebigsur.com/)It IS gorgeous, and surprisingly less expensive than you'd expect for what you get...it's a pretty well-known place.

That picture does no justice to the beauty of the place. It looks like a staged meeting.

They really need to update their webpage.
