DrewEckhardt 0 #1 February 20, 2009 Bad: My corner pub charges $11 for a large beer. Better: The have Racer 5 IPA on tap, a Great American Beer Festival gold medal winning IPA. Best: I ordered a "Large" and found it to be proper Maß. Yum.

billvon 3,111 #5 February 20, 2009 My two current favorite bars are pretty diametrically opposed. One is the bar at Lost Abbey. Beer is $3 a pint. Tastes are free. I never seem to get charged for any beer I drink there, for some reason. (Maybe because I volunteer there and bring food on occasion.) The bar is made of plywood, and the floor is concrete and covered with last year's beer. Two cats keep the mouse population down. You are in constant peril of being crushed by forklifts and towering racks of oak barrels. There is no view whatsoever. The second is Stone Brewing Bistro. Something like 40 beers on tap, over 100 in bottles. The front of the place is glass and it overlooks a garden they've created out of a recharge basin. When it's warm you can sit outside, and there's a fire pit when it's cold. Beer ranges from expensive to absurdly expensive. There is Dante-esque art all over the place made from concrete and steel, and there's bamboo growing out of a pile of rocks in the middle of the place.
