DougH 270 #1 February 24, 2009 The credit card companies must think we are stupid, well maybe we are. I get an email once a month to activate some stupid payment protector program on my credit card that will let you put payments on hold if you run into trouble. .85 cents a month for each 100 dollar balance. Lets assume for simplicity sake that I only have a 100 dollar balance, and I will have that for the entire year. .85*12= 10.2 So it will cost me 10 dollars for the whole year if I average a 100 dollar balance each month. 10.2 / 100= .102... You want to charge me an additional 10% APR for the chance down the road that you will let me slide for a few months and defer a few payments? Are you out of your mind? ryoder 1,590 #2 February 24, 2009 Rather similar to the periodic offers I get from AmEx to "upgrade" my card to one with all these wondrous benefits...oh, and a $100+ annual fee. My current card has no annual fee. I think the CC industry depends on human stupidity for a large percentage of it's profit. When I had Verizon as my cell provider, immediately on expiration of the two year contract I started getting these letters beginning: "It's time to renew your commitment!.." Uh, yeah, I'll get right on that; Right after I "renew my commitment" to my supermarket, my gas station, and my electrical utilities."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
