ryoder 1,590 #11 February 24, 2009 Wait a minute!Am I to understand "pancakes" means the same thing to Brits and 'murikans? How the hell did that happen? I don't care for most of the "thick and doughy" type, unless they are whole wheat and contain nuts. The last time I was at IHOP they had one or two of that type."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. If they were proper British food, they'd be boiled and full of sheep nuggets or something.I love crepes, I love pancakes, but I really love waffles. We make scratch waffles on the weekends. Much better than anything you can buy on the freezer aisle.

JohnMitchell 16 #20 February 24, 2009 Hey, excuse my colonial ignorance, but what is "Shrove Tuesday"? Like Boxing Day, it's not in my cultural history.
shropshire 0 #21 February 25, 2009 It's the day before the start of Lent. So historically it's the day for eating up all of the fat and eggs etc.. that one is not s'posed to eat during Lent... So we make pancakes out of those ingredients and pig out. (.)Y(.)
