mx19 0 #1 February 25, 2009 Ok heres the deal... i took my 2001 R6 for an MOT today and have just been informed that it failed due to the headlamp being european (which i wasn't aware of) so the light kicks up to the wrong side . The garage have said that they tried to put tape over it so they could pass it but couldnt get it in the right position. Has anyone experienced this and found a quick fix? does anyone know if you can get the stickers to go over the lamp like ive been told you can for cars with the same problem? shropshire 0 #2 February 25, 2009 Does your registration document say that it's a Grey Import? A car beam bender should do the job but those suckers can be tricky to get right. Have you looked at the price of a U.K 2nd hand headlamp from a scrappy (sorry Motorcycle recycle operative)? (.)Y(.) ryoder 1,590 #4 February 25, 2009 Unless the bike was of UK origin, I suspect the issue is that you have ECE headlight instead of an SAE. i.e. it is the focus that is the issue, not the side. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp#Regulations_and_requirements I would be looking for a replacement SAE-compliant headlight. BTW I ran a pair of ECE headlights for years on a CJ-5, and LOVED them. After you have experienced them, you realize how badly the SAE focus sucks."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. mx19 0 #5 February 25, 2009 the bike is, as far as im aware, not an import so is of UK origin, I will look into that but the tester seemed to think it was just because it is kicking up to the right instead of the left so into the eyes of oncoming drivers. Also as i come from the UK i think they are governed by ECE regulations, so would i be allowed an SAE-compliant headlight instead?

So I suspect the approved headlight is an ECE with the focus flipped left for right."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
