.. had most influence on making you the person that you are today.

--> Me <--

My grandparents. I had a rough childhood for the most part and they were always there. They taught me how to become who I wanted to be. They never judge me, they just loved and supported me no matter what. I never wanted to let them down and tried my hardest to not to.

LCDR Shroyer. She was my division officer when I was in the Navy. She taught me that I was the only person who can put boundaries or limitations on what I can do.
Damn, when did I let go of that lesson? :S
Thanks for the reminder. :)

Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.

My little brother. Between the age of 9 & 13 he spent more time in hospitals & casts than out. At 9 he was hit broad-side by a car while riding his bike on the sidewalk. Spent the next 18 months going from traction to a body cast to a walking cast & all the physical therapy involved before he went back to school. A couple months later he fell in the playground & broke the same leg & had to go through ANOTHER 18 months... From then until he was 18 he walked with a limp because of a bad knee (in the leg shattered by the car). For his 18th birthday in 1979 my parents had his knee fixed. He recovered from that quickly & soon after moved in with me & my then wife. A month later he broke his back in a car accident & the completely INCOMPETENT "doctor" that "treated" him in Trenton insured he'd NEVER have a chance of walking again (his treatment was to put him in a regular bed & do NOTHING>:(). He went on to work for IBM for 10 years (until he got "down-sized") & has been on permanent disability since the mid 90's. Despite all this he's maintained his very sharp, very dry sense of humor & nearly everyone that meets him is amazed at his up-beat attitude.

Pic attached is Andy & one of his cars; 69 Coronet 500 wagon with a 550HP big block engine.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
