AggieDave 6 #3 March 17, 2009 They're trying to branch out to other viewers, so it doesn't sound so geeky. They've missed the point that the reason why they're so popular in the first place, is because of their geeky viewers. The change is stupid, but I bet most all of the viewers continue to watch, unless a drastic change in the line up happens as well.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #6 March 17, 2009 QuoteUs oldsters that remember coming home from school to watch music videos on MTV can see where this is going I know I'm not as old as you are (although I'm staring down my last birthday of my 20's), but I remember the same. I also remember a really nice block of Saturday morning cartoons on the big 3 networks. Sort of like how the Food Network has lost its way as well. Instead of informative DIY cooking shows, now we have cooking reality shows and competitions. Loosing programming that made the network great to begin with.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
downwardspiral 0 #7 March 17, 2009 The Learning Channel did the same. TLC used to be on par with Discovery and The History Channel but now its mostly home design and fashion shows.www.FourWheelerHB.com
AggieDave 6 #8 March 17, 2009 QuoteThe Learning Channel did the same. TLC used to be on par with Discovery and The History Channel but now its mostly home design and fashion shows. That was a sad day. TLC used to show the history channel style programming that was played in the late evenings on A&E. So help me god, if I watch another episode of that damned couple and their damned brood of children, I'm going to...well, do nothing but probably go to the other room and get on the computer. There should be a disclaimer on the show "remember folks, its a vagina not a clown car."--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." JohnRich 4 #10 March 17, 2009 It's mostly just bad monster movies anyway. And when they started putting on wrestling shows, I knew they were doomed. I don't know how they ever figured that wrestling was science fiction. Fiction, for sure, but science? No way. But if they put on a wrestling match between Hulk Hogan and Godzilla, I'd watch! Oh wait I know how to ruin the channel, maybe they could end a really popular series, then release shows every once in a while on DVD that we're supposed to buy."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. BillyVance 35 #13 March 17, 2009 I remember the days of watching TV late at night and then after the last program ends, you get the national anthem played, and then it cuts out to that black and white noise a-la Poltergiest at 1 am, and then resumes programming at 5 am the next day."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
downwardspiral 0 #14 March 17, 2009 Their programming does suck. Battlestar Galactica was a huge surprise to me. How can such a crappy channel put out such a great show? For some reason the Sci-Fi execs think the fact that a program is sci-fi will overshadow its very poor quality for the majority of their line up.www.FourWheelerHB.com
BillyVance 35 #15 March 17, 2009 I never could understand why ECW (pro wrestling) ended up on Sci-Fi. See, I didn't even notice that they had "Wrasl'n" on the channel. I DVR the stuff I want to watch and hadn't noticed much else. Wow, they're spinning in the drain.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
downwardspiral 0 #17 March 17, 2009 I'm amazed there is even still a fan base for pro wrestling. What is so enjoyable about muscle bound guys in speedos wrestling? Of course now they have women as well so it doesn't seem as gay. Oh that reminds me...who remembers GLOW? Now that was some pro wrestling I could get into. www.FourWheelerHB.com
millertime24 8 #18 March 17, 2009 Quote but now its mostly home design and fashion shows. I remember when they started doing that. Believe it or not, the WWE's TV wrestling shows are one of the most-watched sports entertainment phenomenons in the world. WWE's Monday Night Raw is the longest running episodic show in TV history, longer than Friends, Cheers and Raymond combined, and the Friday Night Smackdown show reaches its 500th show this week in just 10 years, faster than any show in history. Yes, there is a market out there for this shit. WWE superstars are more famous in other countries than some movie stars. I thought adding the Ghost Hunters type shows was a little questionable, but they're close enough to be okay. Adding Wrestling was just dumb, but it didn't hurt anything other than losing a couple hours of Star Trek re-runs. Switching Eureka to every other year really bothered me. Dropping BSG, and Atlantis is unacceptable. Dropping Atlantis as a series so they can sell us DVD's instead is just wrong. I'm probably done with the channel after this Friday."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
