chiquita24 0 #1 March 23, 2009 I had my 11 month old niece here all weekend since my sister had to work and the rest of our family was in Bristol at the nascar race. OMG is she a busy little beaver! She learned to walk about 2 weeks ago, so she was everywhere! I am exhausted! Not to mention that she didn't sleep very well when she was here. Went to change her diaper before trying to put her to sleep again and she stood up and peed all over my bed!!! Then decided it would be fun to wake up at 3:45 am! We were on the go all weekend!! So I guess that was my taste of motherhood! Fun but exhausting!
MrFreefall383 0 #2 March 23, 2009 Exhausting is a good word for it. Takes a special type of patience to avoid pulling your hair out. Not that I would know firsthand, but if my parents are any indication, raising kids properly takes a pretty good chunk out of your sanity."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
JohnMitchell 16 #3 March 23, 2009 Don't let that one day sour you on motherhood. It's way different when your house is childproofed, you have a bunch of kids' toys and a rocking chair with a stack of Golden Books next to it. We had 4 kids in five years, and I'm not saying it wasn't a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun too. Vskydiver made it all work somehow.
BillyVance 35 #4 March 23, 2009 That's like baptism in fire. If you haven't had kids of your own and you take in a relative's kid for a day and a night or something like that, yeah, it's a completely different routine than you're used to. As John said, in other words, when you're already a parent, you know what to do/expect with them. Hell, I don't even need a gym membership to stay in shape. Being a stay at home dad is enough. Conundrum 1 #5 March 23, 2009 Taking care of someone else's kid is NOT the same as taking care of your own kid.
