LadiDadi 0 #61 November 25, 2008 Quote What is the name of this character: # ...and don't say "pound sign." There is no single answer to that question. It is known as (among other things): Hash Mark - derived from 'cross-hatch' because it looks like a cross hatched fence (yes, I had to look up the origins of that one) Number Sign - the term preferred by software developers (and recognized by Unicode) for programming. Pound Sign - for American weights and measures. Confuses the English since that's a whole different symbol to them. (for the record - American system of weights and measures confuses most Americans as well) And, now for the answer you are probably looking for - OCTOTHORPE I know this because I own the game Cranium and it just came up Friday night. If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you. **************************** Be like the cupcake and suck it up. Jewels 0 #69 November 25, 2008 Hmmm, interesting. I was just curious as to how you could even begin to measure that with any sort of accuracy. Someone probably got really creative and figured out a way.TPM Sister #
skittles_of_SDC 0 #70 November 25, 2008 well most of the measurements seem to be done with EEGs or EKGs or whatever. So I assume they figured out what the brain waves look like when you talk to yourself and looked to see how many time those waves occurred. That is a huge guess though. PLFXpert 0 #71 November 25, 2008 Q: Why are those little red and white poles often displayed outside of barber shops? A: In medieval times, barbers also--among other bloody procedures--performed surgery. The poles symbolized the bloodstained bandages used during bloodletting.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You wouldn't expect any of these young'uns to know that... would you? Wow! What a great memory! That was when players played for the 'team', not just who would shell out the biggest bucks for an under average player. That's when they were truly ball players!
