Strangle the parrot = stop squak on the transponder

The No joy one I know but can't remember.

"If no joy, pogo"= telling an aircraft to return to your radio frequency if he can't raise the next controller

"popeye"= in the clouds with no flight visibility, eyes popping out trying to see anything

Useless trivia: -40 degrees Centigrade is the same as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. The two scales line up at exactly that temp. :)

What is the name of this character: #

...and don't say "pound sign."

There is no single answer to that question.

It is known as (among other things):

Hash Mark - derived from 'cross-hatch' because it looks like a cross hatched fence (yes, I had to look up the origins of that one)

Number Sign - the term preferred by software developers (and recognized by Unicode) for programming.

Pound Sign - for American weights and measures. Confuses the English since that's a whole different symbol to them. (for the record - American system of weights and measures confuses most Americans as well)

And, now for the answer you are probably looking for - OCTOTHORPE I know this because I own the game Cranium and it just came up Friday night.
If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you.

Willie Jones!

:D:D
I knew it was going to come from an old fart.

Remember his nickname?

Puddin' Head

Know why?

I only ask about P'head becasue he was a friend of the family. My Dad knew him from youngster days and every spring (mid-fifties with the Reds) he would come down to visit and take me to the ballpark with him and such. One tough cookie but a really swell guy.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Q: Why are those little red and white poles often displayed outside of barber shops?

A: In medieval times, barbers also--among other bloody procedures--performed surgery. The poles symbolized the bloodstained bandages used during bloodletting.
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You wouldn't expect any of these young'uns to know that... would you? :D
Wow! What a great memory! That was when players played for the 'team', not just who would shell out the biggest bucks for an under average player. That's when they were truly ball players!
