Misternatural 0 #1 March 25, 2009 Bored? Family not paying attention to you? Got some irritating neighbors? -get a drum set. You don't have to be Terry Bozio, Neil Peart, or Jim Fox to have fun and make some noise with an el cheapo set. Even if you never played at all you'll get the hang of it by watching and listening to other drummers. add a 300w bass tower, a 100w guitar cab, and invite some friends over for some killer chops. fuggin Phuuun! oh and.......wear ear plugs "Guitar Hero Rock Band" my shiny hiney. Misternatural 0 #17 March 26, 2009 Thats a SWEET AXE.....I want one. I like the old school stuff the best- what cha blasting it through? I was in the music candy store on Sunday and was playing a USA Strat- damn they're expensive now, but that vintage blues tone.....and I'm not even an electric guitar player, I play the bass and mostly acoustic guitar. Here's my Scott Lentz custom with dual EMG pickups- it plays like an early 90's Jackson - but with a nice curly maple top and fingerboard.
MikeJD 0 #18 March 26, 2009 And if you don't want to start a neighborhood feud, get an electronic kit. I recently bought a Roland HD-1 set and I love it. Acoustic kit players (and even hardcore electronic players) will probably look down on it, but it's ideal for me - more affordable, compact and portable than a 'serious' kit, and it does pretty much the same job. Best of all, if you wear headphones there's no external noise other than the slight clatter of sticks on rubber. It's so convincing that I find myself grasping the cymbals to stop them from ringing (doesn't work, although it does on more expensive kits!) I'm no drummer, and since starting to teach myself I've got new respect for those who are. Having been a keyboard player and occasional guitarist, I can work two limbs independently on a good day. Four is a different matter altogether!
Misternatural 0 #19 March 26, 2009 Hehe Charlie brown...Now there's a couple thousand dollar drum rig-Thats nice work on the double bass pedals, I can manage doubles with the heal toe technique on the single pedal but thats it. check out Mike Portnoy of Dream Theatre .....
