riggerrob 643 #2 September 22, 2005 3 years experience rigging. Pack more than 100 "back" type reserve parachutes. Pack another hundred "chest" or "seat" type reserve parachutes for a totatl of 200. Perform a variety of major repairs under the supervision of an FAA Master Rigger and convince him/her to write you a letter of recommendation. Take all your douments to the local FAA FSDO, then schedule a practical exam with an FAA Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner. The Master Rigger practical test includes: assembling and adjusting a sewing machine. Expect to do a canopy repair including: a fabric patch, a seam, a line attachment tape and a reinforcing tape.
