d_squared431 0 #1 April 9, 2009 I hate the smell of cigarettes. I don't care if someone wants to smoke that is their choice but it is not mine to have to smell it. Especially when I am at work in my office and it is coming thru the vents !!TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

regulator 0 #4 April 9, 2009 I dont really think that yelling at anyone will accomplish much especially if they are with another business. Just do what my brother did to his ex wife when she started smoking next to him...(he didnt like the smell either) so he just went to the kitchen and ate some beans and peanuts and when she would light up again he would fart some noxious gasses in her direction and surely enough it was good enough to at least get her to relocate to another area away from him. Just tell them that you can smell the smoke coming through the vents and if anything throw a stink bomb in the vents and block the vent coming from your side so it will only leak over to their area. Its that or tell them youll stick your ass to the vent and fart everytime they start smoking again.

Jewels 0 #8 April 9, 2009 What kind of building are you in? Is it one that you own or lease? If you share a landlord, you can raise the issue with the landlord. It's not uncommon for commercial leases to have provisions regarding the emission of noxious odors. You might be entitled to have the landlord take measures to prevent the smoke from coming into your space, or the landlord may be able to require the tenant to smoke elsewhere.TPM Sister #

d_squared431 0 #10 April 9, 2009 It isn't the tenant. It is the construction crew that is renovating the office. The landlord i doubt would come here for this reason. Half the ceiling in our office fell down on tuesday and he hasn't been here. Our hospital staff(engineering) fixed the ceiling.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

Take a big jar. Tape a list of things you want to buy on it. Every day put a five dollar bill in the jar. When you want a cigarette, look at the jar and read the list. Make the first couple of things worth less than $50.00 so you can feel the results fairly quickly. Smile, you are not a slave.
Jewels 0 #12 April 9, 2009 The landlord doesn't necessarily need to come in; they just need to be aware of the problem and can then call the construction company to raise the issue with them. Especially if there is a designated smoking area that they could use, or a place that would be less problematic for smoke to travel, it shouldn't be a big deal. No matter what happens, though, I wish you the best. Cigarette smoke is really hard to deal with.TPM Sister #

DJL 235 #14 April 9, 2009 This is just life in the constructin industry. If you just meeking say, "Hey, there's smoking coming over the wall to our space" then that's not enough. Two of you from your office need to go over there and this: "We're in the office next to where you're working and the ciggerette smoke from your group is coming into a place where we have patients. If this happens even ONE MORE time then we're going to go to the building owner and your client and make very serious complaints about how you are affecting the neighboring tenants where you work. You know you're not supposed to be smoking inside of this space and you know you can go outside. Do you really want the actions of your employees making it difficult for you to get further projects?" He'll say "no" Say: "Are you going to tell your employees to stop doing this?" Etc..."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
