bozo 0 #1 February 5, 2009 I'm getting an ANS electronic stimulator installed in my back and spine to try to control the pain my back injury has left me with. Anybody got any experience with the sort of technology ? Does it work well ? Having been a jumper for 27 years and suffering all the injuries associated , Ive run the gamut of the drugs. 40mgs of Oxycontin twice a day sucks and there isnt any recreational value. I will do just about anything to say goodbye to that shit. bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars.
chuckakers 426 #2 February 5, 2009 My mom had a bad deterioration problem in her spine and that gizmo worked very well. That was 30 years ago, so I imagine whatever they have today is even better.Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
bozo 0 #3 February 5, 2009 Thanks to everyone that responded, mostly in PMs. I got some great answers and feel pretty good about this "one more surgery". I knew asking a bunch of broken up skydivers would be the answer. bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars.
Pokerstar 0 #4 February 5, 2009 My brother has that implant. If you would like, I would ask him if he wouldn't mind talking to you about it.Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber. --- The Dude ---

bozo 0 #9 February 18, 2009 I had the surgery monday...it failed. It seems I have too much damage in my spinal canal to implant the leads. Next step is with a Neurosurgeon mar 3 to see if he can do anything. Nothing good came of this set of surgical drill holes unless maybe you count the Fentanyl. that was nice. bozo Pain is fleeting. Greene 0 #10 February 18, 2009 Oh noAdam did tell me. Please consider a second opinion, as is the standard in medicine and please follow my advice and seek out Dr. Deer? Dear? in West Virginia. A second opinion is always recommended by the medical profession and ME! skydiverbry 0 #11 February 18, 2009 I'm guessing that you have already tried the external stimulaor.(Some call it a TENS Unit)That is what I use because of the Neuros advice against the implanted unit secondary to my spinal damage. I was on Fentaly patches,40 mgs of OxyContin twice a day,and 15mgIR's for breakthrough pain. I went through a IPRP,got on Lodine, a dual channel TENS,and down to 10mg.Vics 2 xday Pain still ther but tolerable Bry-------------------------------------------------- Growing old is mandatory.Growing up is optional!! The internal unit was a last chance for me as im so sick of the drugs. Kids , when you are forced to live on em the recreational aspect wanes quite a bit. Any words of encouragement from your March 3rd appointment?I don't care how many skydives you've got, until you stepped into complete darkness at 800' wearing 95 lbs of equipment and 42 lbs of parachute, son you are still a leg!
