Springtime in Seattle, Tulips blooming

Recommended Posts

John,

Thinking about going up on Sun with Terri and Skyler? Any places to suggest?

Scott

I cant believe that after all these years in Seattle I have never bothered to go up to see the Tulips in Bloom, I think this will be the year!:o

Just get off in town, head West across the river. There are maps and signs for driving through the fields. Tulip Town is $5 for adults, kids free, and Rosengarten (sp?) is $4. Both are fun to walk through. Tulip Town has a tractor ride for a couple of bucks. Rosengarten has several fields in bloom that you can walk through. Your admission ticket gets you free parking there.

All kinds of small art galleries and pottery shops out in the farm area. Cruise around, stop in, shop a little. The town has a few antique shops and the usual small town feel. For dinner, we like the Mexican place on the East bank of the river, just South of division. Good food, cold beer, easy prices. Hope you all enjoy it.

It took me 20 years to talk John into taking me to see them the first time. We had such a good time that we try to go every year now. The colors are so amazing! It fun just to walk around and enjoy the beauty.

Thursday Vskydiver and I drove North of Seattle to Mt. Vernon (where they have a great C-206 DZ on the weekends) to check out the tulip farms. We hit it just right. Almost everything was in bloom. I'm not a big garden guy, but it was pretty impressive.B|

Tomorrow should be a zoo.... a friend from Portland is up and we are driving up to HongCouver for the day...

Beautiful pictures! I love the waving, colored landscape.

Washington you say? Here in CA my garden tulips just finished their cycle and are now dormant plants again. However, I just went outside and the Iris are just starting to show their color now. They'll be open tomorrow, or Monday at the latest! Yeah!

Your pics look like you were at Roosengard's - always our favorite tulip farm when we lived up that way. Makes me miss tulip time in WA. Good thing you went on a weekday though, the weekends got impossible 8 or 9 years ago.

Yes! We were at Roosengard's! Although we did Tulip Town as well. And we were there on a Thursday. The crowds were light. We've been on weekends and we know better. ;) Besides, the weekends are better spend jumping out of planes. B|
