I don't know if your an asshole or not, only you can be the judge of that. What i can tell you is anytime you direct traffic, even if it's inside your vehichle telling, or motioning with your hands to direct someone else in another vehichle to go or stop, turn before you etc...If anything at all happens as a direct result of your direction and your not an on duty Police Officer you are 100% liable for any and all costs of your action(s) including civil suits, charges of missconduct (If any) So before anyone decides to do anything such as this, think twice because it's noncondusive to financial longivity.

Well this morning was the last time I'll ever let someone out of a parking lot when there's a huge line of cars blocking them from turning onto the road...
