I was listening to "Fortune Teller" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on the way to work today and thinking that might be a song that Megan could make her own....and maybe some others off the "Raising Sand" album. I think T-Bone Burnett would be a great producer for her to hook up with...I'm sure he'd pick some great material for her.

The Opry has so many great songwriters a members.

My first thought for Megan was to try Crazy by Patsy but after second thought.. Pasty is one of those untouchables. After Pasty did a song its been done and no one is ever going to improve on it. So maybe that wasn't such a Great Idea. Now a Good Marty Robins Song like Big Iron, The Streets of Laredo or the best Choice I think would be "One Mans Trash". Megan's voice reminds me a lot of Kelly Hogan whos band Jody Grind did that song many years ago and was one of my all time favorites. I think Megan could take that song and rturn it into something great.

And I agree on T-Bone.

Just watched it again, truly epic rendition of that song. I am SO disappointed he didnt make it.

I've never heard "Big Iron" before but found it online...I think you're right...she could make that sonk work for her. Another Marty Robbins song I think would be good is "Singin' The Blues" as it's got that swing to it that I think she does well with.

In no order, Just as I though of them.. My word to tonight's contestants:

Adam.. Johnny is rolling over in his grave right now scratching at the lid and trying to dig his way out just so he can Kick the living shit out of you for what you did to "Ring of Fire". Some things just aint right and what you did to that song is one of them.

Megan, Megan, Megan.. First let me just say.. OH MY FUCKING GAWD!!! Are those real?? Just WOW!! And I do mean Holy freeking Tig old Bitties!!! OK.. So you took on Patsy against my better advise. The prelim did sound like you would have pulled it off.. But the flu got to you. The song was a great effort (especially under the circumstances) and I have NEVER seen you look so good. The Hair, The make Up, The Dress.. Just WOW.

Hokey Gokey.. The fashion Glasses are waaay past annoying and that jacket was just stupid. You will be safe for a while but drop the cheesy glasses find your real soul. The song was just OK and I am really starting to see you as a not so likable guy. don't know why but you are starting to come across as a jerk and I cant explain why.

Anoop - Mad Props. Never thought an Indian dude could pull off a Willie Nelson song and do it well. Very well done.

Matt Timeberfake - You were perfect as a player in a dueling piano bar. That is where you belong. You took your shot and done well. Another week or two and I would gladly tip a $1 or $2 when I go to whatever bar you are back to dueling at.

Kool Aide Head - WTF is with the vocal vibrato in tonight performance?? Was that actually intentional or just nerves? You got chops but tonight was not your best.

Other white Dude - Find a way to stand out and you can go a while. Your song was good but much like you, Still forgettable.

Lil Rounds - Thank you. I appreciate the you did not try to R&B up that song. I think you did it very well and I am glad you tried something outside your comfort zone. Well done.

I came in halfway through Adam doing Ring of Fire and I'm glad I missed the first half. I despised what he did to one of the greatest country songs of all time. After paula, Kara's gushing it was great to hear Simon call it "self-indulgent rubbish".

My wife figures Sarver and Lil Rounds should go home. She saw the whole show and I missed the first 4 1/2 performances.

I thought Anoop really did a good job tonight.

Alexis Grace wasn't at her best, that's for sure.

Megan did pretty good on the Patsy Cline song she chose but not great.

I have to say that I'll be amazed if Scott goes home tomorrow as I still think he has a large base that will keep voting for him.....doesn't mean that I disagree with your assessment.

I doubt it would ever happen but Adam deserves to be in the bottom 3 tomorrow.

I agree that Adam slaughtered Johnny's song. I'm sure there are a few out there that really were inspired by it, but I'm not one of them. Adam went far and away the furthest from country a singer could go.

Lil did the opposite. She gave up who she was by trying to 'be true to country artists and their music' (or something like that she said).

What's a contestant to do? Be true to themselves no matter that the style of music chosen for the week, or try and mimic that style and abandon what makes them great?

IMO both hit WAY off the mark.

For the country music fans I think those who did the country music proud were:

1) Michael (oil rig guy)

2) Danny (however, get rid of your stylist!)

3) Anoop (too soft for me, though. The judge's praise was a bit too much).

4) Megan (what's with the arms, though...and the little hitchy wiggle? Give that up and I may come around if you sing like you did tonight).

5) Scott (okay, your style is your own, and you did fine on the vocal, but give a bit more variety for the viewers, k?)

6) Matt (okay, you did alright, but no pop and sizzle here.)

7) Kris (easy on the eyes, and great interpretation. Can we have a bit more jazz, though?)

Allison was good, but not my favorite. Alexis...sorry girl, you're going home. :^(

We're completely on the same page with the exception of Megan. I really enjoyed her performance and was surprised to learn from the judges that she actually had the flu. I may also be biased by her drop dead unbelievable gorgeousness.

I felt last night was the night for the underdogs.

Michael: Extremely difficult song and I hope your fans carry you through.

Alexis: Not good but rest assured that if you are voted off tonight, you have a good chance for the save and you deserve it. I agreed with Kara, 'Last Name' would have suited you very well. So, if you're not taking J's advice atleast take mine.

I would hope that they use the save on Alexis....but it is pretty early to use something they can only use once.

Her performance of "I Never Loved A Man" was one of the top performances of the year for me and I'd hate to see her go.

I think they really wanted to but she just had a bad song that didn't show her off...and it really wasn't very good the second time around. Dang! I liked Alexis and think she is way more interesting than about 3 or 4 of the guys that are left. But...she had no "constituency" like Scott - pity vote, Sarver - Workin' man vote, etc, etc.

Best news.....Megan Joy is still alive...bringing the guys on here great joy!

Finally catching up with you guys here on the west coast. I have to refrain from opening this thread until after the show has completed here.

Alexis, Alexis. She just completely choked with her 'save me' performance. She knew it too. The more she tried to power through the more her performance continued to fail. And yes, I really liked her in previous performances.

Wonder how Adam is going to twist up Motown next week.

The mind boggles when you think of the possibilities....and not in a good way.

I think he will tone things down a little....if Simon keeps saying your performance was rubbish sooner or later the viewing public is going to agree with him. He was lower in the dialidol rankings than I expected him to be based on the judges' praise for him so I don't think he can afford performances that alienate people for much longer.

Thats an excellent observation and I agree completely. Who know maybe more young girls will find out hes dressed in drag (and been pounded from behind) and lose even more votes.
