skittles_of_SDC 0 #6 April 29, 2009 sorry guys. it's gotta go to my parents. Turns out my dad's health insurance company doesn't cover skydiving accidents. So I gotta figure out some other way of getting them the money. And what makes it worse is now I have to give up skydiving too.

Thanatos340 1 #13 April 29, 2009 Uhh.. Ever thought of getting your own insurance?? How old are you? And if you can afford Health Insurance then you definitely cant afford Skydiving and I applaud your decision.

And unless they call driving a dangerous activity those bastards would have to pay out. It was kinda a half assed joke anyway.
Thanatos340 1 #16 April 29, 2009 Not true. For a Single Individual, A good Policy can be had for about $300 a month (About the same as a lot of people spend on Skydiving, Bar Tabs or other hobbies). Less for other policies with limited coverage. yes, It is expensive but you do not have to be "rich" to afford your own health insurance. regulator 0 #17 April 29, 2009 I dont have a policy for me and I dont really care about it because when I die I'm gone and thats it. Who gives a shit about getting an extra 25 thousand dollars after I'm dead anyway? I dont have shit to myself other than my 08 Accord coupe and my fiancee cant even drive it anyways. So I jump without insurance and probably wont ever get any other than what I've already got from my job. Fuck it when youre dead you cant spend money anyways. TANSTAAFL Actually, at Skittles' age and (presumed) health status, it'd probably be a lot less, though any follow-up treatment on that broken ankle would probably be excluded for a while. I haven't been in the individual market in a few years (I went with COBRA when I was unemployed last year) but I recall in my 20s being able to get pretty comprehensive coverage in the $120-150 range. The other option is insurance through school (though based on his FB updates I have to say I'm confused as to whether Skittles is still a student or not.). I think I paid $600/year for insurance and $600/year for student health services when I was a grad student - so for $100/month I had pretty comprehensive coverage (granted that was a long long time ago!)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. NWFlyer 2 #19 April 29, 2009 Quote Have you ever priced an individual policy? Just did, for shits and giggles. Lowest was $70/month, highest was $678 . But there are a lot of options in the under-$200 range with reasonable cost-sharing and deductibles. And that was with my age/gender ... for a younger male it'd likely be even less."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I basically have one more hoop to jump through and if I can make it through the hoop then I should be good. That'll take care of insurance right there.
