CSI Descent of Man

Recommended Posts

I've been watching CSI season 9 on Netflix Watch Instantly and just saw _The Descent of Man_ with its skydiving scene. That was _far_ funnier than I anticipated.

Stokes: Ma'am, we just need to know what happened.

Skydiver: I don't know what happened. You know, we've made this jump, like, a hundred times. Everything was going perfect. We formed the star, backflipped, 360'd, reformed exactly as planned. We deployed...but, he just kept falling.

Everything was perfect, it was like...

Well, did you ever do it?

Stokes: Well, I've done a little paragliding.

Skydiver: Oh, you should try the real thing.

You know, bodies linked in air. And...

And the Earth coming at you like the fist of death,

and the wind is, like, it blows up your leg holes.

Pierre lived for that.

I was laughing so hard by the end I had to rewind it to get "the wind is, like, it blows up your leg holes"

Yeah I saw that on Tivo a couple weeks ago @ a friends place. HYSTERICAL. The leg holes thing and fist of death cracked me up too, we watched that scene probably 5 times over. TERRIBLE acting.

And to a lesser hilarious but still funny extent- "He was just too good... too experienced to let something like this (a mal) happen..." Any skygods out there that are too good to have a mal on your main?

I also liked how the pull up cord is only used to tie the risers together while packing. :S ...and that they went back and tracked a bandit ultralight flight using the equipment at the major int'l airport.

So there I was...

Making friends and playing nice since 1983

I hadn't seen a single episode of CSI until I watched that one. I'm glad I never watched it, that episode was horrible. For a show that gets something like 12 million viewers weekly, you'd think that they could hire better actors and do more research.

OK.....this type of stuff happens too often in movies, etc. to be an accident. I think they probably did go to the skydiving community for research and they probably got a bunch of jumpers pulling their legs with the cornball lines like the "leghole" thing. I bet you skydivers out in CA do this a lot and make bets on whose lines actually get used on tv shows and movies. Now, tell me.......which one of you guys came up with the 3 minute freefall from 4 grand in Point Break? ;)
