josheezammit 0 #1 August 31, 2005 well, i got me a brand spankin new j5k odyssey back in may, and now in august about 70 jumps on the bad boy, when i freefly with my friends it seems like every jump the main closing flap comes open, I have a 220 triathalon in it and it packs up pretty tight, any thoughts or advice? I think I'll give bill booth a call next time Ahh, what a wonderful world.
Hooknswoop 19 #2 August 31, 2005 The larger size Javelins main flaps don't stay shut very well. Tightening the closing loop and packing the main wider and less tall may help. If not, a piece of Type-12 webbing sewn under the top flap for the main flap tuck tab to tuck into will keep it shut. Derek
meltdown 0 #3 August 31, 2005 Josh, tighten your closing loop....a lot. My Javelin was having the same problem but between sticking a rubber band on the tuck tab and tightening the closing loop the problem is solved.

We can take a look at it this weekend and see if we can pack it wider like Hook said, he is smart in this kind of stuff.(and others) Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. masterrig 1 #5 September 2, 2005 I've seen what Hook is talking about and it's especially more common with larger parachutes such as yours. Folks, tend to pack them more narrow and the end result is a 'bulge' toward the center of the main container. Try packing it a bit wider than the bag. rhys 0 #6 September 3, 2005 odyssey containers are very nice but that damned main flap is the only thing i dont like about them, most other manufacturers seemed to have changed to the vector3 style main flap thet stays closed even when the main is deployed. Personally I think they do not want to change the 'look' of the jav rather than changing for the sake of safety. if they did change it i would want one. my $0.02 sorry for butting in. is the main bigger than what is recommended for the container?"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
