ryan_turner 0 #1 August 31, 2005 Has anyone every packed a Smart 190 reserve in a Quasar II container? Aerodyne lists the pack volume for the Smart 190 as 409 cubic inches. A Quasar II size Q6 container has a reserve volume of 465 cubic inches. I called Strong and they said that with a cypress, it would probably be big enough, but the only way to tell, would be to pack it and look at it. I would like to make sure these two pieces of equipment are compatible before I purchase them. Are the Smart reserves really as small as Aerodyne claims they are? I'm not sure about actual volume, but from what I've been told their pack volume is similar or slightly smaller than PD reserves of the same size. riggerrob 643 #3 September 1, 2005 Yes, Smart reserves pack the same size or slightly smaller than PD reserves. Better to ignore most numbers published by canopy manufacturers. Instead, you would be wiser to focus on volume numbers published by container manufacturers ... because they are the ones who take it in the shorts when compatibility problems arise. Trust me. Between 1994 and 1997, I did the first test packs on new patterns of Talon 2, Genera, Telesis2, Aviator and Classic prototypes. I was able to close them all, but recommended against the tightest combinations.
tommymc 0 #4 September 1, 2005 My previous Q6 handled a Fury 220, full but okay (with an advertised volume of about 500 cu.in.) And my current Q5 has a Raven II (218 s.f.) plus Cypres. Your 190 Smart should be easy. Tom
