banesanura 1 #1 May 8, 2009 Me and my SO went to a bed and breakfast for the first time. It was a just incidental as they had the only room available for the americus boogie. I had no idea that some people got really into B&B's the food was great, and it was cool to stay in a historic house, but other than that... right now I'm indifferent with B&B's. I'm open to checking some more out, which would you recommend, why, and where? Thanks! I felt kinda weird talking that the sweet old lady making us food, and knowing the evil things that went on in that room...Best Girl Scout Ever. normiss 900 #3 May 8, 2009 as does Ireland! In the US, Chicago has some very nice places as do a lot of cities in the Southeast... those are all I've been to. It's nice to get away from a corporate environment at big hotel chains sometimes.
hungarianchick 0 #4 May 8, 2009 This one rocks! You can check their menu out online and if you stay there you can have whatever you want off the breakfast items. The scenery is beautiful and it is the place to be if you ski or hike http://www.woodstockinnnh.com/ "I love cooking with wine. JohanW 0 #5 May 8, 2009 The Azalea House in Palatka FL. www.theazaleahouse.com/ Because the Innkeepers are a lovely couple, the house is beautiful and Palatka has a great dropzone as well. My girlfriend at the time and I spent a great week there. (Yes, she was into stitching, why do you ask?) I still carry their business card in my wallet. It's a house out of a fairytale. Good food, too.Johan. I am. I think.
Remster 30 #6 May 8, 2009 I agree Daisey... There is something fundamentally odd about staying in someone's house when you dont know them at all, and then having them serve you breakfast in the morning.Remster

That's exactly how I felt after my first night in a B & B. I prefer remaining somewhat anonymous at a hotel. Always be kinder than you feel.

Shotgun 1 #13 May 8, 2009 I stayed at the Maison Perrier, a nice B&B in the Garden District of New Orleans. It was a really cool place, but I was alone and not getting in until about 5AM each night, so I found it to be annoying when everyone was getting up at 8AM for breakfast. (Yes, the walls were thin!) And, of course, I missed most of the breakfasts. But I would recommend the place. I enjoyed drinking coffee in their courtyard, or sitting on the big front porch in a rocking chair, watching the rain. And the neighborhood is so beautiful. I went for several walks around there in the rain. (It was always raining, but it was warm.) Mmm, I miss New Orleans . . .
billvon 3,120 #14 May 8, 2009 Differences in SFO was a great place, and would have been right up your alley. They closed, unfortunately; the owner's doctor told her "no more excitement" and the place had no shortage of that.

jimp 1 #20 May 8, 2009 This was ours until we moved into town last year. Spectacularly beautiful area on one of the two routes to Alaska, quiet, remote, 14 inch thick log walls; you can carry on in the tradition of those who..... came before youwww.eaglenesthouse.com
Rookie120 0 #21 May 8, 2009 Boothbay Harbor ME has some great B&B's. Great little town to get away from everything and the seafood is to die for!If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
banesanura 1 #22 May 8, 2009 The food was stellar where we stayed! I know GA has a ton, but I would only go to stay with my bf... Everyone at the B&B was 40 plus years older than us, so conversation at the breakfast table was kept light. I know there WAS an s/m B&B but I can't seem to locate it... If not- I'm sure I'll try to convince my client to make one Best Girl Scout Ever.
