MikeJD 0 #2 May 13, 2009 Nice pics! The first one, where the reflection isn't so obvious, is quite something. I like the comments on there that the tiger is just curious and the little girl probably would have been perfectly safe without the glass. Yeah, riiight. Agree that domestic pets are generally more tolerant of children, but tigers and snakes?
jimmytavino 16 #3 May 13, 2009 Cool pictures... we live very near to our local zoo which includes many types of animals, including three Amur Tigers.... their outdoor exhibit area faces the street where we live, and they can be seen behind the backyard of one of the homes here... as a driver, one can stop the car, look through the back yard, and clearly SEE the tigers in the exhibit.. what can NOT be seen, are the cage bars, and the chainlink fence which contain these majestic felines... The animals are literally less than 200 feet away from a car parked on the street.. I've often wondered,,, If we were "in the wild", and if the tiger spotted us,,,And if it was HUNGRY ....Just HOW FAST... he or she could cover the distance to reach us...... ??? REAL fast... i bet... the amazement of the animal kingdom. jmy
MikeJD 0 #4 May 13, 2009 There's a big cat sanctuary very close to my home DZ in Kent (England). When we camp in the summer we can sometimes hear them roaring at night, which is kind of cool. Also, the enclosures are open-topped - and it is possible to find yourself over that way depending on the spot. A couple of weeks ago someone ended up landing on the site, luckily between the enclosures rather than in any of them. Tiger attack would have made for a pretty unusual incident report.
