Amazon 7 #26 May 16, 2009 Quote I would never eat a guinea pig! My brother had a couple of little hamsters as pets, when he was young, and his fiance (a hard-core animal lover & vegetarian) runs a doggie rescue. We're all animal lovers here. Besides, I don't usually crave meat. Fyi, Peruvian dishes are quite varied. I tend to prefer ceviche, an incredible Peruvian seafood dish. It's amazing. I've always craved seafood much more than meat, but if I do eat meat, Peruvian Lomo Saltado is out of this world! There are endless Peruvian dishes...with or without meat. I've never actually had a craving for guinea pig, either. Sorry! It's not as common as Jeannie is making it seem...hahaha. I doubt my cousins would be into it! I dunno... up in the moutains.. it seemed fairly common... on the Inca Trail.. BUT... I was talking about the part I highlightedroast relative..... VanillaSkyGirl 6 #28 May 16, 2009 I believe that the natives in the Andean mountains eat cuy. The Andean natives don't speak Spanish. They have a beautiful language that they've kept over the years called Quechua. I don't eat cuy and don't speak in Quechua. I also don't wear their traditional costumes. They are a beautiful culture that has kept traditions alive. Our backgrounds are quite varied in Peru. We have the Andeas, the Amazon jungles, the city of Lima & beyond, the coastal/beaches, etc. Like any country, it's filled with many different foods and traditions. This link shows well Peru's variety of food. Peruvian dishes have anything from seafood to chicken to beef to pork to lamb to turkey to so much else. It's normal stuff, but the taste is incredible...amazing spices. Peru is famous for their variety of potatoes. It sounds weird, but I swear it's true. I was never a potato fan, but Peruvian potatoes taste so good. I've become a huge fan of them. The potatoes are gorgeous, rich colors and really enhance the dishes. The corn is thick and amazing, too. Once again, the seafood dishes in my birth town of Trujillo are just incredible. Outside of fish, shrimp, ceviche - a lemon-lime marinated seafood appetizer. There are so many other dishes, which I can't even remember to list. It really depends on what you're in the mood to sample. Peru has to have some of the most amazing dishes around. Pisco is a really nice liquor made from grapes. I'd rather have that, than Vodka, but good Vodka is my second choice of alcohol. I don't drink much or regularly, though. Fyi, to everyone who went to Chick's Rock in 2006 and told me how much the jello shots rocked. I put Pisco in them. That is why they tasted so good & knocked you out. lippy 918 #32 May 16, 2009 Hey Rosa I hope I didn't come across as bashing the food/drink of Peru. Ceviche and Pisco don't appeal to me, but like I said: to each their own (I'm sure that some of my favorites that Mom makes back home wouldn't be that tasty for a lot of people). Peru is definitely one of my favorite countries, for the little bit of it that I know. Lima has a very laid back vibe, some very cool history and some awesome coastal views. Just north of Lima in Collique there's a little DZ where they fly a Ceneca (spelling) that's a cool little plane, and you get some amazing views from up there (it's weird being at 9000' and seeing a mountain right beside you). There's some very cool culture in the jungle as well. My avatar is from Iquitos, Peru. It's one of the few 'shitty oilfield towns' that I have to go to that's actually more than a shitty oilfield town.I got nuthin

MikeMcLean 0 #35 May 16, 2009 Quote Quote The smell of all of this booze in the kitchen is making me want to puke. Just thought I would share that. This is a stupid question but can you make Jell-O shots with anything besides vodka? Oh yeah; my wife's friend from work makes many different ones. A favorite is orange jello and tequila (basically a tequila sunrise). It wouldn't hurt you to think like a fucking serial killer every once in a while - just for the sake of prevention
skyh2omedic 0 #36 May 17, 2009 Jello shot were a favorite on our float trips. We float in the Ozark National park Waterway-they banned jello shots because fo the litter from the cups. Some of our younger folks in the group discovered fruit soaked in peach shnapps and other flavors. Try pineapple chunks, grapes, strawberries, chunk canteloupe etc. put in zip lock bag. add schnapps, soak in fridge overnight-they are awesome and refreshing. They are now a staple on our climbing trips and float trips."You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
