shropshire 0 #1 May 25, 2009 Aye Up.... In training for my big walk next week, I went to our Peak District and did a 15 miler with the dog... So, here are a few pictures of the day.... 00 - We walked on one of the old railway routes (that was shut down by Dr Beaching in the 60s - which is dead good for us, as it leaves a great set of public paths!!). We walked the Tissington Trail, which goes from Parsely Hay to Asbourne - altough we only went as far as Tissington and then turned around and walked 5 miles os so back to our pick up. (.)Y(.) shropshire 0 #4 May 25, 2009 ..... more The Well dressing is sort of interesting ... the Water Wells in a lot of Derbyshire villages are decordated with these cool pictures that are made up from petals, shells and pebbles etc.. The origins go back many a year, and some say that they are to give thanks for good water, to stave off the Black Death ... Lots of villages claim to be the 1st, but it would seem that Tissington could be the real one. (.)Y(.) Skyrad 0 #6 May 25, 2009 Nice dog, how far are you walking? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
shropshire 0 #7 May 25, 2009 177 miles - the full Offa's Dyke route ... over walking 15 days (may split into 3 sections, with a day or 2 off in between to re-stock and do laundry). (.)Y(.)
