Superman32 0 #1 June 9, 2009 Just ordered a new 13" Macbook Pro. I've been waiting for month to get this thing, and it was worth the wait. Upgrades and price drops on the new models. Unfortunately, I had to order on line, since the Apple store has no idea when they're going to get it. TomAiello 26 #4 June 9, 2009 I'll probably get one too. My 3 year old macbook is on it's last legs, so it's time to either upgrade or crack the case and start replacing things. With the new stuff out, I think I'll just upgrade.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

BDashe 0 #6 June 9, 2009 Worrrrrrd. My dell cr*pped out on me 2 weeks ago. 3rd dell, had the same problems over about an 8 year period, i finally threw in the towel. ordered a 15" macbook pro which was delivered yesterday- just in time for them to announce all the new upgrades. Sh*t. Was on hold for 2 hours (understandably so due to the launch traffic). within a few minutes of talking to the nice english speaking rep, I had ANOTHER brand new upgraded 15" on the way. they emailed me shipping labels for the one I had just received to ship to their returns department ON THEM, no charge to me, at which point I will be refunded- including the extra $150 i spent on the initial purchase being that the new ones are cheaper. ALSO, they added the new MBP to my original order, so all rebates I submitted will not be effected. I haven't even opened/turned on my new macbook pro and I am overly satisfied with it!!! HA HA HA! awesome customer service, the new one should arrive next monday. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

With the new stuff out, I think I'll just upgrade. There's only about three screws that need to be removed to replace the RAM and hard drive. It takes all of five minutes. If yours is a Core 2 Duo, then it will support 3-6 GiB of RAM. (The models in which Apple officially supports 2 GiB can support ~3.5 GiB of 2x 2 GiB RAM modules. The models in which Apple officially supports 4 GiB can be upgraded to 6 GiB via 1x 4 GiB + 1x 2 GiB). I don't like how the latest MBP's eliminated the ExpressCard slot in all but the 17" models. I'm glad I got my 2.8 GHz 15" unibody MBP in December.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

jcd11235 0 #11 June 9, 2009 Congratulations on your new MAC Mac. I like the 13" form factor better than the 15" size. The integrated Nvidia graphics is plenty powerful compared to previous integrated graphics solutions. The unibody cases are very nicely designed, both structurally and aesthetically. The LED backlit display has excellent image quality.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
FlyingJ 0 #12 June 9, 2009 Welcome to the club! If you are not already familiar with Mac, take the time to do some of the Mac for Windows users tutorials on Apple's website. JohnDeere 0 #13 June 9, 2009 They seem to cost more. Are they worth it? I personally hate windows (exp. vista)! I would just hate to learn all this shit (operating system) all over. FlyingJ 0 #14 June 9, 2009 I would say find someone to let you try one out before you go and purchase. If you aren't interested in learning a new operating system it can make you miserable. My dad bought a Mac because my brother and I both have them and rave about them, but he hated every second of it. He did nothing but complain about how hard it was to learn how to do everything he already knew how to do on a PC, yet he never took the time to go through the tutorials that Apple provides. He ended up giving it to my sister and bought himself a new PC. He decided he was better off buying cheap and replacing the computer every couple years than he was on spending some serious money on something that would last a while longer.Killing threads since 2004. Nor does PC equal cheap... it just means more options and flexibility.

As someone else just mentioned, if you want to spec them out the exact same you are looking at similar prices. You don't go to the store and see a $400 Mac laptop as an option though. My comment really doesn't apply if you are going to go and spend the same $1,000 to $1,500 on a PC laptop, but it seems most of the time (in my experience) price tends to be the reason many people say a Mac isn't an option and instead go for a much cheaper (in both price and construction/quality) PC.Killing threads since 2004.
