Nataly 38 #1 May 31, 2009 I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar... Given I've played the piano for years, it's nothing short of laziness that I haven't just bought a guitar and taught myself.. until now!! After my exams, I decided to treat myself to a new hobby.. After considering a number of options (including growing a vegetable garden), I thought actually, what better time than now to buy myself a guitar? I went into a shop and there it was in all it's glory.. A *beautiful* PINK dream!! I got the guy in the store to strum a few chords on it, and it sounded amazing (*and* it was pink!). So I bought it! I'm sooooo excited!! I've been practicing and practicing chords for 2 weeks now, and today I (sort-of) learned California Dreaming. Woo hoo!! Only down side is I've gotten so caught up in my excitement that my fingers (left hand) are KILLING ME!! OWWWW!!! TrophyHusband 0 #11 June 1, 2009 holy christ that thing is ugly, but if you're musically inclined, you will make beautiful music with her. i have zero artistic abilty so i'm jealous of those of you that do. i would love to play the guitar. i had one once and taught myself to play part of stairway to heaven and harvester of sarrow, but it just isn't my thing. Not sure if it's girlie enough, though Certainly isn't. ALL guitars are women. And I wouldn't call her ugly, bet she's definitely overstated. You think about pulling an axe like that out in public, you'd better learn to seriously throw down on her first. Find me by a bonfire and we'll have my girl teach her a few things. .......Ooohh, and I'll bet you'll never guess what her name is....OrFunV/LocoBoca Rodriguez/Sonic Grieco/Muff Brother #4411 -"and ladies....messin with Robbie is venturing into territory you cant even imagine!-cuz Robbie is

MikeJD 0 #16 June 1, 2009 Quote Call her Daisy. And for your 300th I wanna see you playing her in free fall. Take your guitar into freefall and it might end up being not so pretty anymore. Nataly, if you want to maintain your interest and improve your playing in a hurry, I say start or join a group and rehearse in that context as well as by yourself. So long as your band mates understand that you're, um, a progressing player, then it's almost never too soon. It'll really motivate you and boost your confidence about playing in public. You've probably just made Nataly go out and buy an electric too. I've been trying to identify that guitar - looks like a simplified Strat copy, with only two pickups (oddly adjacent) and a single pot, presumably permanently turned up to 10!. I guess that simplicity works well with the punk ethos too.

You can stay on those three for two hours, cover everything from Johnny Cash to Outkast, and no one would know you were a 3-chord wonder. I also recommend internet tabs. I could learn pretty much any song by ear -if I was going to live forever- but Googling existing Tabs by some dude with too much time on his hands is an acceptable time saver. P.S. I know you're busy becoming Joan Jett, but you still haven't guessed the name of my guitar. Heatmiser 0 #25 June 1, 2009 I do. I trim my right hand (I'm left handed) when my nails start to interfere with fretting. If you finger pick, it is beneficial to keep them longer on your picking hand. Nails cause the strings to sound louder and sharper than picking with the pads of your fingers. Hope that's clearer than mud What you say is reflective of your knowledge...HOW ya say it is reflective of your experience. Airtwardo Someone's going to be spanked! Hopefully, it will be me.
