Since there's not anything in the event log I'd assume that it's a hardware-related issue of some sort. Most machines will shut themselves down if something overheats to prevent frying itself. Most likely culprit is the processor overheating. Try moving some cool air through the machine (using a fan or AC - dry ice might be a bit much) and running something process-intensive like SuperPi on the 32M setting. You should see the core temps rapidly rise, and they should level out at a certain point. Youll see the temps that your computer is running at, select the 'Force fans to High Speed' You will probably hear your fan running faster, you can watch the temperature go down. These series of dells have a heating issue, they get hot and do it quickly. Mine was fine stock (Centrino 1.6 GHz 256 DDR 60GB HDD) but ever since all my upgrages (Core2 Duo 2GHZ, 2GB DDR, 250GB HDD) It gets a little toasty. chiquita24 0 #28 June 22, 2009 When I watch something online or a DVD on my computer, I ALWAYS have a fan blowing on my computer or it will for sure shut off.
