WatchYourStep 0 #1 June 30, 2009 I'm getting ready to buy an air mattress to sleep on at the DZ instead of the couch. Anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out." NWFlyer 2 #2 June 30, 2009 If you have easy access to a power source, I'd recommend an AeroBed.Edit to add that I think I have the knockoff brand, too. They're way more comfy than other air mattresses and tend to hold the air much better - you'll need to reinflate it a little before each night, but it'll still be comfy. Plus they only take about a minute to inflate. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. WatchYourStep 0 #7 June 30, 2009 A lot of these are saying "built in electric pump". Does that mean it needs to be plugged in the entire time or can you unplug it after you pump it up? Thanks for the help guys. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out." NWFlyer 2 #8 June 30, 2009 You can unplug. But you do need a power source to inflate it."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. wmw999 2,589 #9 June 30, 2009 I used one over the weekend with an built in pump, but it used D cell batteries. Worked well. ryoder 1,590 #10 June 30, 2009 For years, I have been using a queen-size 8" thick mattress on a platform bed frame as my only bed. You can usually get the mattress for ~$60 in the camping section of the nearest sporting goods store. Don't wast money on the ones with builtin pumps. I have had a mattress last up to 7 years, with daily use. The WORST I ever used was the Aerobed. The overpriced piece of trash didn't last as long as any of the much cheaper ones. My one complaint is that some of the mattresses (when new) put off a gawdawful plastic smell that gives you a headache after sleeping on it for a night. The solution is to go down to the hardware and in the paint section, pick up a 2 mil 10' x 12' plastic sheet. Wrap the mattress in the plastic before putting on the fitted bedsheet. Krip 2 #12 June 30, 2009 Quote I'm getting ready to buy an air mattress to sleep on at the DZ instead of the couch. Anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks Suggest checking out some of the light weight camping cots. Frame and legs are made of Acft aluminum that fold inside themselves, Sleeping portion is made of some kind of nylon with pinholes for air flow. The cot sits about a foot off the ground and breaks down to about the same size as an ar mattress. Fire ants in Florida. Flood in the tent. uneven ground or rocks No crawling out of the tent on your hand and kness with a full bladder. Check out places like REI. We've had ours for about 20 yr's and no flats. Downside is it don't float worth a damn. We've flown with ours all over the US.One Jump Wonder
gearless_chris 1 #13 July 1, 2009 I like my Coleman Quickbed. I have a separate rechargable compressor to inflate it. I've seen the ones with built in pumps that run on batteries have problems with battery leakage."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane.
