normiss 900 #1 July 28, 2009 So earlier this year, I gave my new car to my middle daughter cause she needed reliable transportation. Already having the motorcycle, I thought I'd just buy an older beater pick-up truck. I paid a whopping $2400 for this Ford. Driveline is damn near perfect on this thing...with a few issues here and there. Yesterday morning I stop at the grocery store. Come out and she won't start. No clicks, no nothing. Hmmm...starter relay/solenoid going out maybe. So I get a screwdriver out and short across the terminals. Sure enough, she starts right up. In Drive. WTF???? OH SHIT!!! Thankfully the Monday morning gods were looking out for me and cleared a path through the next three isles straight for the ditch that is about 15 feet deep. So I'm chasing my truck across the parking lot. Stop laughing. Diving into the cab, hit the brakes. catch my breath. Laugh my ass off. Apparently I have a bad neutral safety switch as well. Use the parking brake next time, I will. Sure made for a funny Monday am.

PLFKING 4 #6 July 28, 2009 Lucky with Harleys AND trucks, I reckon. Had that been me, it would have hit 3 cars, run over two kids and a dog, THEN hit the building. I would say that the neutral saftey switch did its job by not letting you turn the engine over to start it in drive...you just bypassed it to start it in drive...which I do find very funny

warpedskydiver 0 #15 July 28, 2009 Control rod from the column to the trans is either disconnected or gone. But if you turn the cowl on the column as it exits the dash it will not allow the key to turn. Really good anti theft scheme. It used to work wonders in the city. They could even remove the ignition and still no luck.
normiss 900 #16 July 28, 2009 Cable in this case. I have noticed it's touch out of adjustment...sometimes hard to find reverse. This weekend I found out the horn doesn't work, nor the cruise control...or the overdrive switch on the shift lever...column issues in the past? Fucker does 120mph smooth as can be though. I also dig the reserve...errr....dual gas tanks.
