For the pilots

Recommended Posts

We had a prep course, and then took the military equivalency test (written). The ratings you get depend on what you flew during phase 3. For example, I get 2 type ratings for flying the T-1 which the T-38 guys don't get, but the T-38 guys get centerline thrust, which we don't.

Xlnt!! Congrats.

The centerline thrust thingy on the T-38 is a restriction. You can only fly multi-engine planes that are centerline thrust, something to do with the blue line.

Anyway, continue climbing on course!!

Not sure what you had to go through to get that, but it's impressive nonetheless. Congrats! B|

Congratulations! But I don't understand what you mean by saying "I get 2 type ratings for flying the T-1". What 2 type ratings are you talking about? If your talking about your multi-engine rating, that is not an aircraft type rating. Are you talking about getting a type rating for the BE-400 and the MU-300, which was the original model, made by Mitsubishi?

I have 4 type ratings in 4 different business jets. One of them is in the BeechJet 400 (BE-400) which I believe is basically the same as the T-1 you flew, except for the paint job and a few extra radios! How do you like it?

........ As far as the jet, I like the fact that it's got some long legs, but I don't like the way it tries to dutch roll you all the way down final when you disengage the yaw damper. :S

Yeah, it does have a pronounced dutch roll without the yaw damper. So do the 20 and 30 series Lear Jets I used to fly. Welcome to the world of spoilers instead of ailerons. However, if I’m guessing correctly, you are about to move on to bigger and better things.

Again, congratulations! And thanks for serving!

Update,

We had our assignment night last week, and I'm off to fly the 135R at MacDill AFB! Tampa, here I come!!!

Congrats! Z-hills is close! I'll probably be getting gas from you sometime soon-ish. If you hear "Stack 01, noses cold, switches safe, 2992" throw me a couple extra pounds, will ya?

Oh, and I just bought a plane - so if you see this (attached) parked at Z-hills, give me a shout!

Eagle, nice plane! I'll be sure to say hey if I hear your callsign out there! Just remember, you don't kick ass without tanker gas.

Wally, sorry about the late reply. I've got 4 more rides to graduate, and they're cramming us through as fast as possible and I haven't been near a computer (I'll be flying all weekend and checking Monday B|). Can ya jump a 135? Well, sure, I guess, but you wouldn't want to. Something about the airspeed, if you think a King Air is fast on jump run...B|
