QuoteQuoteIt's going to be at Elsinore's Boneanza Boogie on Sunday, August 9th.
Huh
Raffles arent as interesting as austions...
A bunch of nutty skydivers could make for a very entertaining auction which could lead to higher bids.
I think the auction would be fun if its well organized.

Why did you assume it was a raffle? I said it was going to be at Boneanza. I'm having a raffle for the skydiving gear, 10 minutes of tunnel time, Liquid Sky coupon, etc. and I am having an auction, too. I already told the photographer on the day that he offered my the signed prints, that I would do an auction. I will be able to display them and have people bid on them throughout the day.
Ohhhhhhhhhh my bad

i guess i read it to fast.
Sorry

It's ok. I am thinking of updating the status of the auction via iphone to my Facebook, so others can also text in their bids to me. I have to set a cut off time, and I will do a last call, too.

QuoteThank you so much, Shell! It's for an amazing cause. I'm cutting off & donating my hair to breast cancer patients in Nov, too. I hope I can raise more breast cancer awareness funds then, as well.
Once again, you're freakin' AWESOME! And one day I will get to tell you that in person!

Fantastic! Johnny already agreed right away to sign it, so I'm happy. I'll keep all of you posted.

Shell~ Thanks so much. I'd love so much to meet you in person.

Hmmmm maybe cause you said this in post #2
QuoteI forgot to ask in the poll, if I should auction or raffle the print. Can you guys please give me feedback about that, too?
You ignorant fool! Checks are for workers!
QuoteTrue, but, if you have enough people contributing, you could raise more money with a raffle.
200 people spending $10 or $20 each vs having one person bid $2000 or $4000.
Not to be picky but this is funny!
Raffle
200 People x $10 = $2000
200 People x $20 = $4000
Bid
Your Examples
$2000
$4000
Sorry its just funny your #'s are the same

I wrote to ask "if I should auction or raffle the print". How is that stating that it's definitely a raffle, not an auction?

Yes, they are. Probably because I used 2 examples for a price for the raffle tickets. What I meant was, it's probably easier to get X number of people to spend a small amount of money versus having one person spend a large amount of money.
For example, it's probably easier to raise the same amount of money by having 200 people contribute $10 each, or $20 each, versus one person contributing $2000 or $4000.
Yes, I guess math can be funny.

Heehee, I will break down the posts and time frame for you.
Today, Briles bumped this thread, asking the following:
How many people are gona be there?
Or is it on da computer?
I posted that it was taking place on Sunday of the Boneanza boogie, and he posted about how an auction would be better.
My initial posts (including #2) had been made on Tuesday. By the end of the day on Tuesday, I had already decided with Jeff (photographer) to make it an auction, but I didn't post that, yet. I didn't think I wanted to post about it again, until I have all the logistics nailed down.
Tonight, since Briles bumped up the thread asking where this was taking place, I answered him that it would be at Boneanza. I had not posted yet, that it was going to be an auction or raffle. When he assumed that it would be a raffle at Boneanza, that was when I asked why he was assuming that it was a raffle, not an auction.
I had not posted either way, yet. It wasn't ME who made the initial assumptions. In any case, I'm happy that Briles is interested in being a part of this.

Shell, I totally see the logic. No worries...
To everyone~
This is a thread that is constantly changing with updates.
Latest news:
I am going to have about 3 prints to choose from during the auction.
At Boneanza, there will be the following fundraising opportunities:
* JFTC auction
* JFTC raffle
* Pink ribbon rubber duck sale
* JFTC bake sale
* JFTC jello shots at the party
I am going for gold with the fundraising. I hope to have something for everyone.
(I Love the Facebook Updates idea so that those of us that cant be there can Bid Too.)
I will begin the auction on Sunday, August 9th on the final day of the Boneanza Boogie at Skydive Elsinore. I'll let you know the starting prices, once I get an idea from the photographer, Jeff Bender of how much they will be going for, which I should know in a day or so. You may also submit a price to me, and I might just make it the minimum bid for the item.
Jeff already got the Johnny Knoxville's print signed, and he is in the process of getting back the print (or prints) from the No Doubt crew, including Gwen Stefani.
If anyone would like to submit the minimum bid early online, then I strongly urge you guys to let me know, asap. It will be easier to write down your names prior to beginning, than during the auction.
I'm very excited about this!
I'll end the auction on Tuesday online at 10 pm. I'll be in touch. Please PM or facebook or text me, if you'd like to submit a bid. I'll post tonight to describe the photo prints, once I pick them up, tonight. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Shell! It's for an amazing cause. I'm cutting off & donating my hair to breast cancer patients in Nov, too. I hope I can raise more breast cancer awareness funds then, as well.
