D22369 0 #1 August 12, 2009 Ok, simple problem here, my step brother has a loan and medical bills that are in collection, and put my number down as a contact in addition to his cell number and he wont answer the cell, these people will not stop calling me even though I have repeatedly told them that he doesnt and hasnt ever lived here and he had no permission to give them my number. The local calls have been blocked, but I cannot find a way to block the out of the area calls. Help help help can I force them to cease and desist by mailing them a certified letter - cuz telling them on the phone to stop hasnt worked RoyThey say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

There's a wealth of info on ways to stop harrassing calls on the internet, as well as on here. Reminds me of the time I shared an apartment with a friend. He had this girlfriend who was a bitch, then he dumped her. Long story short, our phone starts ringing. We answer, dial tone. Brrring... answer.... dial tone. This went on for more than 20 minutes. On a hunch, we got our neighbor, who was a retired police officer to come up to our apt and call a number back for us. We suspected the bitch was calling us and hanging up. So, he calls the number. Whaddaya know? The bitch's step-dad answers. Now here's the funny part: I was told that the retired police officer and the bitch's step-dad both could hear someone trying to dial and then click. Step-dad goes into the other room and busts the bitch. Harrassing calls end. kmfenaughty 0 #7 August 12, 2009 Quote Try to have phone sex with the he/she that is calling. Don't know that it works ... but it sure shakes them up. When they call telling me that I have won a FREE vacation ... I usually tell them I don't need the vacation but I sure could use a "lewinsky" ... they are usually shocked and not sure how to handle it. Another way it to try and get their full name ... so you can call them at home or ask if they have been tested for STD's and does their partner know about their "activities" .... Another way to to simply state that this call IS being recorded for (not by) Law Enforcment ... screws them up cause there usually VERY CAREFUL about what they say. Try and get them to speak clearly and state there name, who they represent and a way to contact them (phone number and address) .... May not stop the calls but it ALWAYS throws them off base cause it's not on the script there reading from. I currently use AT&T VoIP service that has an "optional" call filtering facility that allows me to enter ~30 numbers that are simply BLOCKED ... that absloutley stops them. The simpleist way is to look at the call display ... if it's an 800-xxx number simply DON'T answer it, if you answer it and talk to them then they know they got ya and will continue to call back. I personally like to SHOCK 'N AWE method 99% of the people on this earth are sheep ... dare to be different
Niki1 2 #8 August 12, 2009 I had a similar experience in high school. A buddy breaks up with a girl. He's hanging out at my house one evening (the folks are out) and the phone rings. We hear giggling and then a dial tone. This happens several times and then the buddy has an idea. I had an Acme Thunderer whistle. You know, the kind that hurt your ears in the locker room when the coach told you to get your butt out on the field. The next time the phone rings he picks it up and lets loose with a blast from the whistle and hangs up. We're laughing our asses off when the phone rings again. Still laughing, I answer it. My sister, who lived accross town says, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!" 00ps Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. JohnRich 4 #10 August 12, 2009 Look up the Uniform Commercial Code. If you tell them not to call you, by law they have to stop calling. If they continue, you can sue them in court and win thousands of dollars. So, tell them to stop, quote the UCC, and threaten to sue them.
