chaoskitty 0 #1 September 10, 2008 New series on HBO. Anyone caught it? It doesn't have the most compelling plot, so far.. and the fake southern accents are kind of annoying. But it feeds my addiction to Vampire fiction.
tmaricle55 0 #2 September 10, 2008 The books are much more interesting! The cast is from all over from what I understand (fake accents). Muff Brother # 3883, SCR # 14796 ICD # 1 - Pres. Yeah, I noticed and I think it's funny!

tmaricle55 0 #5 September 10, 2008 OMG - you read??? Anna is a kewi. The guy playing Bill (vampire) is British, the guy playing Jason (the brother) is an Aussie and the girl playing Tara (best friend) is from New York. Muff Brother # 3883, SCR # 14796 ICD # 1 - Pres. PLFXpert 0 #6 September 10, 2008 Quote OMG - you read??? Anna is a kewi. The guy playing Bill (vampire)... I admit I'm not into vampires, but speaking of reading: I was impressed by Stephenie Meyer's ability to get tweens to read a big, fat book. Bill and I were lunching and saw this barely pubescent girl reading a big, fat book. She was behind me and Bill was the one who noticed so I asked if he could read what it was. Eventually he did and the book was titled "Breaking Dawn". Never heard of it. Oddly enough, later that day I read an article about the author and her latest. I don't know why, but I was excited the girl with the big, fat book was reading something for pleasure vs. assigned material. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. NickDG 23 #7 September 10, 2008 >>But it feeds my addiction to Vampire fiction.I just finished one, but now you're scaring me because I thought they were all fiction! But anyway pick up "Vampyres of Hollywood" by the actor Adrienne Barbeau. I don't read too much new fiction but I picked it when I went to see her give a talk on it. (Actually, I just went to oogle her). So when I came home I just tossed in the bathroom. But over the course of few dozen bowel movements I found it very hip, well written, witty, scary, and full of surprises . . . It's here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Vampyres-Hollywood-Adrienne-Barbeau/dp/0312367228/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221086626&sr=1-1 NickD
Squeak 17 #8 September 10, 2008 Quote I think Anna Paquin is a little british girl. Anna is the little girl who won the Oscar for her role in "the Piano" she's from New Zealand. (KIWI)True Blood has not started here yet, but there is a show from Canada called Blood Ties, which is meh but not to bad. Katzeye 0 #13 September 11, 2008 I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book series by Charlaine Harris. It's interesting on so many levels. It's more than a "campy vampire" story. It's a love story, vampire story, and social commentary. If you're just watching it for fangs and blood, yeah. You're going to be disappointed. The director is Alan Ball of "Six Feet Under." If you didn't like the flavor of that series you won't like True Blood either. I'm a HUGE fan. Of both the show and books. It's been a looooong time that any storyline captured my imagination and made me think "what if." This one did that. Also - being a Southern transplant I did not find their accents unrealistic. If you notice Bill's is different than Sookie's, and for a good reason. His is centuries old. And if you live in the south like I do, I have experienced MUCH thicker accents. Remember that this is set in rural, rural, RURAL Louisianna. Hell, I have a few people here in Charleston proper I can only understand half the time. Is a chicken omelette redundant? vskydiver 0 #14 September 11, 2008 I've read the whole series of the Sookie Stackhouse books. My daughter got me into them. I watched the first show of True Blood on the computer last night. We don't get HBO. I thought it was pretty good considering how detailed the book was. Obviously the books are better but isn't that always the case. It's fun to see the show as long as you don't expect it to be exactly what you had in your head after you read the books.
