chileanXaos 0 #1 July 17, 2005 Hello , I am having troubles with my container , the thing is I bought it used from the internet , and it really fits me tight , my rigger told me that the harness cant be fixed , but I dont trust him , I think he wants me to buy a new one . here I have some pics maybe , its to tight to fix it. thanks
sundevil777 102 #2 July 17, 2005 Is it just the chestrap that is too tight? Are the legstraps tightened in your pics? I would want it longer also, but that should not stop you from jumping it. It definitely can be done, if lengthening the chestrap is what you're after. If the main lift web is too short (it looks OK) that is often best left to the mfg. Your rigger should have just told you that it can be done, but he isn't the right one to do it.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. popeyefireman 0 #3 July 17, 2005 It does look snug on you, now I am no rigger so keep that in mind. I know that when they are big, the harness can be altered, but as far as I know when they are too small, there may be no more material in the harness system to make it bigger. Now some container companys offer the service of puting a new harness on a old container, so you could check with your rigs manuf. As for trusting your rigger, in my oppinion that is really important, but tahts all I can really say because I don't know what kind of profit riggers make on selling new rigs or their services, that part is best left for a rigger. It looks like you leg staps fon't have much room in them. Ask your instructor, they would give you a better insite Adam "I Yam what I Yam" I am not afriad to die, only to die without living. chileanXaos 0 #4 July 17, 2005 Hi Cliff , its the legstrap and chst tight , and in the picture the legstrap is tighten like one inch . Do you know if it is too expensive fixing it ??
sundevil777 102 #5 July 17, 2005 Fortunately for you, you have hip rings, so it is a relatively minor repair. Find a really good rigger. You might even have new legstraps made by the mfg and sent to your rigger (different rigger than you mentioned) to have it installed.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. sundevil777 102 #6 July 17, 2005 RWS has a full list of prices for various services, to give you an idea of prices: http://www.relativeworkshop.com/pdf_files/05257.pdfPeople are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. sundevil777 102 #8 July 17, 2005 I just posted the RWS price list to give you an idea of prices for different services. However, they should be quite willing to do repairs of other rigs I would figure (Someone will surely be able to confirm that). Any of the big manufacturers in Florida are probably your best bet for cheap shipping costs from South America if you don't trust local riggers.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. PhreeZone 20 #11 July 17, 2005 Thats just for the Mainlift web usually. in your case PdF or a Master Rigger would be replacing at least the mainliftweb (About 1.5-2 inches rough guess from me), possibly new leg straps and pads and a new chest strap. Look at the price of a new harness.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
sundevil777 102 #12 July 17, 2005 You really think the main lift web looks too short?People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. hookitt 1 #13 July 17, 2005 QuoteYou really think the main lift web looks too short? Yes chileanXaos: The rig is definately small on you. An entire harness replacement is in order to make it longer. The leg straps may be salvagable but the pads will probably still be too short. It appears to fit you fairly decent over the shoulders but the yoke may be a little small over the shoulders as well. That just means the Rings and Chest strap will sit a bit higher once the main lift web is the right size. What happens when you lift the rig up then tighten your chest strap, then the leg straps? The pads are way too short by the looks of it but can you try it then take another front and side shot? Don't wear the jumpsuit, it hides were your hip bone is. GravityGirl 0 #14 July 17, 2005 It looks like the MLW is the right length. It seems to fit from the side view. It looks tight over the shoulders. The chest strap looks too short. The chest strap is an easy fix. Over the shoulders is not. If you rotate the rig up a bit and sinch down the chest strap a bit more, does it dig into your shoulders? Too uncomfortable to skydive in? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
masterrigger1 2 #15 July 17, 2005 Here is my opinion; 1. The lateral needs to lengthened. That is the lower webbing going across and thru the container. 2. I agree with GravityGirl as the main lift webs look to be plenty long enough. The cutaway and reserve handles are under his armpits. They need to be brought more forward. You should be able to have that fixed for somewhere around $150.00 Blue ones, MELSkyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
riggerrob 643 #16 July 17, 2005 First step, lift the container higher on your back and tighten the leg straps. Then we will be able to see if the yoke is the correct size over the shoulders. It is difficult to tell from you photographs, but I suspect that the yoke is on the small end of the envelope for you. The chest strap is definitely too short, but that is the easiest strap to replace (Master Rigger or factory). Likewise, it is easy for any Master Rigger to make you a newer, longer set of leg pads.
