shah269 0 #1 September 15, 2009 http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_sheep_odd LONDON (Reuters) – A group of schoolchildren who reared a lamb from birth and named it Marcus has overridden objections by parents and rights activists and voted to send the animal to slaughter. I'm this far =><= away from going vegetarian so I may be a little bias but wow...these kids are mean! Mom, dad, remember that lamb we kids raised....yeah we're having lamb chops for dinner tonight. You would think the kids would be a little more attached and what not.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. I like the "Sir Loin" name. It would fit with my alter ego - Sir Osis of Liver. My wife is hotter than your wife.
Glitch 0 #6 September 15, 2009 I'll take it you never lived on a farm? ...facts of life and an intro to The Reaper come earlier than for them city kids. Dad -son, bring me Rufus, your pet chicken. shah269 0 #7 September 15, 2009 I think these were city kids. That's why I'm a little taken. If you are raised on a farm, well it's just the way of the world. But city kids tend to be a bit more insulate and you would expect a bit more attachment.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. JohnMitchell 16 #10 September 15, 2009 The kids knew exactly what they were doing when they got into the program, and have stayed the course. The grownups sound as if they've had the hypocrisy attack and feel they need to protect the kids from how the world works. Vskydiver grew up on a farm, eating what they grew. That included chickens, cows, and all the deer her dad could shoot.
lost_n_confuzd 0 #11 September 15, 2009 From your source: QuoteThe intention had been to buy pigs with the money raised from slaughtering Marcus, but those plans have been put on hold following the furor created by the lamb's culling. The school said the program may now have to be stopped Also, you're idea of "city" kids is limited to the U.S. This took place in Kent, not exactly the boonies, but definately not the "city" that you are thinking of. If you raise it for slaughter, stick to the program One more lesson whuffos can learn from skydiving: "Plan the dive & dive the plan" A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Looking at google maps i wouldn't be surprised if half the kids were farming kids. I grew up around animals and yet I am still squeamish, I eat meat but would not kill my own food. If the butcher didn't exist I would be a veggieHonestly I think it is very healthy that they stuck to the program - it is not like they slaughtered it at school and they didn't even do a field trip to the slaughter house.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
